I was playing around with my October POR reservation (wanted to check the cost to upgrade or river view), and I now see that my garden view room is now listed as woods view. Is woods view the new name for garden view? I have a room request for the Magnolia Bend section (non royal room buildings). Will my request still remain on my reservation? Thanks!

My “garden view” at POR was literally 2 doors away from the parking lot. I was not impressed with that category!

Yes it’s same as garden view. Woods view not really an accurate description for Mansions! I’d have a look on the POR room maps and also request which building and area you prefer. Magnolia Terrace has nice garden views. Have a look at maps on pg 1 of Port Orleans Riverside thread.
Although I’ve had river views I wouldn’t pay for one. They’re nice but with no balcony to sit outside to enjoy it, I don’t think it’s worth the upcharge. I can walk outside and sit on a bench to enjoy the view.

Disney has rooms at all their resorts that sometimes is a stretch to fit the reservation category, and it's normally the rooms that are closet to the other categories, Garden view vs Standard or water view vs park view. We had a water view once that you had to lean over the balcony and look sideways to see part of the pool. But, another trip we had a "lagoon view" that we could see the castle from our balcony. So it does go both ways.

I would not pay extra for a view at POR. The resort is quiet and serene - a beautiful place to take a walk. If you really want to take in the view - do that.

LOL, it's better than a swamp view! We had a garden view in bldg. 26, but just outside our door was woods and swamp. When My husband went for the morning coffee at the Mill, I was worried that bigfoot would get him while passing that jungle:)

I am sure you were in the Alligator Bayou section and bayou's are swamps, so that theme is right on the mark. LOL

I did put a request on my reservation for the Magnolia Bend section (non-Royal Room buildings), but that was pre-woods view classification. I've stayed in both sections of the resort, Bayou and Mansions, and I far prefer the Mansions. Why couldn't Disney have made Woods View an additional booking category, and price it the same as Garden View? Argh, so frustrating.

It’s not same price as garden view?

SueM, yes it is the same price. I was just asking about location; woods view to me indicates Alligator Bayou, and I wanted to make sure that woods view rooms can also be located in Magnolia Bend. My price did not change at all on my reservation.

I feel woods view is a better description for AB, seems silly for Magnolia Bend but it’s the new description for garden view so yes you will get a garden view in Magnolia Bend even though they are now calling it Woods.

SueM, that was my suspicion, but I didn't want to assume. Thanks for the info!
