POR Which Section would you chose?

We are going with a couple of families and because some need 5 in the room we will be staying at Port Orleans Riverside. This will be my first time there and the families were thinking of requesting rooms near each other, which would mean staying in the Bayou section. I think I would rather stay in the Magnolia Bend area, just seems more to my liking. Can anyone tell me which they prefer and why? Thanks

We were there in Sept. and we and another family stayed at the acadia section. We liked it. It was just a hop and skip away from the buses and we didn't have to walk very far to the food court. It was really quiet and we enjoyed it. Wish I was going back this year. My only complaint was it was TOOOO HOT!

I love Oak Manor, but I am usually by myself or with girlfriends.

If you like the idea of the Mansions and some of your party has to stay in AB, might I suggest requesting you request the Acadian House and they request buildings 37, 38, or 39.

It is a lovely walk through Ole Man Island to get over to the food court from both areas and you are close to the North Depot bus stop.

We stayed at POR in January and I really wanted to stay in the mansions section but ended up getting the AB section building 18, and I am so glad that we got that and not any of the mansions. Don't get me wrong the mansions are lovely but after walking the grounds I fell in love with the more remote feel of the AB section. The way the two sections are landscaped the AB section just feels more secluded as the foliage blocks a lot of the view of the other buildings while the mansions are so well groomed that you can see the other buildings etc a lot more. So even though we were in this huge resort it felt much smaller to me because of the beautiful trees etc in the AB section. All of POR though is really lovely and I dont' think you can go wrong anywhere!!!

I like PO Riverside. I believe that because there are 5 in one room you guys will probably have to stay in AB. Which in my opinion.......are nicer than the manors. We have stayed at both.

We stayed Magnolia Bend in Magnolia Terrace. This was a wonderful spot! Walk straight out the front and the bus stop is there. Walk out the back and go right a little bit and there is the bridge to the main pool and just beyond the pool is the main building that you enter through the food court. The view is amazing in there. We could not have loved POR more

I couldn't agree with you more. The last time we stayed at POR I wanted to stay in one of the mansions, which we got but due to some reasons we switched over to the AB section. At first I wasn't too happy with it, that was until I got into the room and saw our location. We LOVED it. We were in Building 14 which is right next to the main building and FC and right across from the marina. We loved it so much that we decided to book another stay for our September trip and I called to make a request for Building 14 in the AB section again. It was so quaint and like the PP said, the AB section is gorgeous and if you like the outdoorsy/woodsy type feel then you will definitely like this section. Good luck, you will be fine either way.

We usually drive and get Alligator Bayou. Closest to parking lot and not TOO far from the buses.

If you want all three in AB, than 14 and 15 would be the closest. Be aware, a lot of people ask for these buildings (a lot) because they satisfy all three.

If you list the requests in order of their importance, they may be able to satisfy at least one or two, if they are full.

And remember, not all requests are granted - especially if it is a busy time of year.

Our last stay was in AB building 18. I would have preferred a corner room, but the location was outstanding. As someone mentioned, the buildings have quite the secluded feeling since there is so much in the way of bushes, shrubs and trees. Our room faced building 14 so our walk to the main building was nothing. During our stay there were some severe rains..and it was not a problem to walk between our room and the main dinning hall. If we had stayed in any other room I think we would have been drenched on several occasions. It was also not too far to get to the main pool and the quiet pool was almost around the corner from our room. If I were to stay there again, I would request either 14 or 18.

We prefer Bldg 38. It's close to the North Depot bus stop. We do have to walk a little to get to the main bldg and food court but it's such a nice walk. Sometimes the buses are crowded when they get to us but we're on vacation and in no hurry so we'll wait for the next bus which is usually A LOT less crowded. I think it's the 3rd stop so that explains the crowding. I'd rather be farther out with less noise then close to the main bldg. But that's just my opinion..
