Hi
We're staying in POR for 6 nights early April in a regular room. Family of 4, parents and two tween boys (13, 10).
We need a room not too far from the bus stop and preferably ground floor, as we will have a lot of luggage (this is part 1 of a 3-part, 2-continents trip).

Any recommendation as to what is the best option to request? I tried going through resort maps but kinda got confused...

Thank you so much

Is it a Garden View or Standard View? I would suggest something in Magnolia Terrace. It is just across the bridge from the resort center and very close to the East bus depot. For further information I would check out the resort information page on these boards and also www.portorleans.org which is a great source of information from a frequent poster to these boards. You will love Port Orleans.

Thank you! It's a garden view. I did previously check the website but couldn't be sure.

Re bus stops there are several throughout the property. So I’d say being close to the lobby is the most important so Laura’s Dad is offering excellent advice. I would also say that if they can’t give you magnolia insist that you are at the very least on the mansion side and not the bayou side. It’s personal preference but I find the mansion side to be MUCH more picturesque, particularly the landscaping. Also request a corner room (as they have an extra window and brighten up the space a bit). I usually ask for upper floor too. Have fun! It is my favorite resort!!!

Request buildings 80 or 85. You aren't too far from the main building and each of those buildings is close to a bus stop. Both have elevators. 80 (Acadian House) probably gets the edge because the North Bus stop is second on the loop so you would be more likely to get a seat. Enjoy!

Oh and say you don’t want to be near rooms with animals. That’s the one downside of this resort. Such a boneheaded and money hungry move by the mouse. I’ve been in rooms where I hear the poor puppy crying all day because it’s knucklehead owner brought them to Disney and proceeds to stay in the parks all day.

There are responsible pet owners just like responsible non-pet owners. We took our dogs last Mardi Gras to Acadian House and made sure that what you said didn't happen. We enjoyed having them there with us and got a lot of nice comments about them. We stayed clear of those who obviously didn't want to interact with them. The mouse gets plenty of our money, ad we appreciate the ability to take our dogs with us.

I have been posting on the boards for close to twenty years. I don't want to start a pissing contest, but your post really ticked me off!

OP please be aware any room location request is just that, a request. One trip I made a request to be near a bus stop at POR, and they put me as far away from one as they could. It is best to be excited if you get a request met and not angry when you don't, kwim?

Didn’t mean to offend. Different strokes for different folks I get it. I love dogs and have one who means the world to me. And I totally dig bringing dogs on vacation. But to me, bringing them to Disney where you know you will be in the parks the majority of the time is unfair to the pup and to other guests of the hotel. I think leaving them home with friends, family, or a sitter is best for all involved.
