DH and I are just sitting here dreaming up all our future trips and we started thinking about trying some different resorts (saving DVC points by staying at the resorts on cash on Fridays and Saturdays) and we are really intrigued by the two Port Orleans resorts. But which is which? I know one is New Orleans themed and one is Southern Plantation (right??) but which is better, what are their strong points, can you use either pool regardless of where you stay, etc.

They both seem to be so popular and I am just really interested to hear everyone's opinion.

Thanks!

POFQ is the New Orleans theme/Mardi Gras theme. Smaller size. Only one pool. No sit down restaurant. We saw lots more kids here. POR is the Southern Mansion/Bayou theme. Much larger. About twice the size. One main pool and lots of smaller quiet pools. One sit down restaurant. More spread out. Good for peace and quiet, but does make it a bit longer to get to main pool and food. We saw fewer kids here. Most of theme were older. I think the dragon slide at POFQ apeals to the smaller kids. You can use both pools. The boat to DTD is great. Food courts were both good. Bus service usually starts at FQ and then picks up POR. Had to stand some trips to the parks. I guess it is just a matter of personal taste in your theme and decor. We like the POR, but I wouldn't turn down the FQ either. I have some pictures on my Christmas link. Hope to take more this Christmas. Going back to POR.

I think it just depends what suits your fancy. We just got back from a 10 day trip to POR. We stayed in the AB section which has very beautiful and lush landscaping. We loved the seclusion of the buildings, even though the resort was full, you still felt like you had privacy. The mansion section is nice but I just liked the AB section more. The FQ buildings had more of a water view available to them. We saw lots of little kids using the pool at FQ while we were there. I don't think you could go wrong with either.

Thank you so much for your replies - I looked at the photos on Allears, WDW.com, and your link and it really is beautiful!

Thank you!!
