POR vs. CSR?

It really depends.

CSR has a great waterslide and a large hot tub. The pool is best with older kids who are taller/better swimmers.

POR has a pool that will work better with littler kids, with access to the new splash area at POFQ.

If you want to spend a lot of time at Disney Springs, POR has the boat.

Other than that, both resorts have their fans, and a lot of it comes down to theme.

We found POR absolutely enchanting. The fog on the river, the setting, the royal room. If we went back to staying in a mod we'd go there in a heartbeat.

We only stay at CSR if we can get a Business Class room. Aside from that, we aren't fans of the CS there or the theming ( but that's strictly personal preference).

We'll only stay at POR if we can get a preferred room because it's so spread out. In previous stays in nonpreferred rooms, we've NEVER gotten a room request.

An hour before you posted this thread you started a thread saying you were staying at CSR and asked about room requests. What changed your mind in the interim?

The first question I would ask is if you care about all the Deluxe type amenities that CSR has that POR doesn't?

Fitness center, spa, salon, sauna, lap pool, night club style lounge, also 2 outdoor lounges, 2 table service restaurants, room service, Business Class room option?

If those things appeal to you than the choice is simple, POR is no comparison and CSR is the clear choice.

If you don't care about any of that than it's really a toss up.

CSR:

- Mexican theme
- larger pool
- larger hot tub
- better water slide
- more central location with arguably better bus service.

POR:

- Old South theme
- Boat to Disney Springs
- recently renovated rooms
- POR army that will come by this thread shortly and declare it the greatest place on earth.

We like POR way better than CSR. The pool, foodcourt, boat to DS are all the main reasons.CSR had better busing than POR and we had a beach/ water view in the cabana section. But Overall CSR is in last place of the 4 moderates to us.

That's funny that you say that about POR having an army, because I've found that the only time I've got "attacked" is when I say anything negative about CSR. I simply stated when we got back that in OUR opinion, the foodcourt was terrible, and the CSR army literally came at me. I know I'm in the minority not liking CSR but it was crazy. I can't say we had a bad experience even, just didn't care for it.

We stayed at CSR in 2015 (without our kids, for our anniv) and POR in 2014 (with kids). We liked both resorts' ambience quite a lot. We preferred the CSR food and found the pool area much more impressive. We loved walking around CSR, but both commented that it could be tedious with kids. It has a spa and fitness facilities, the latter of which was important to DH; if I recall, it's the only non-deluxe to offer them. We loved the boat ride into Disney Springs, so that's a huge POR plus if you plan to go there. I wouldn't be able to guess if this was the "norm" so take this with a grain of salt, but we found the buses to be fairly equal in terms of pick-up frequency, etc. BUT the travel time once we departed the resort to the parks seemed so much less from CSR. We felt like it took forever to get everywhere from POR. From CSR, HS, Epcot, and AK didn't feel that far, and even MK felt closer than POR to MK. I can absolutely get why people love POR, but I doubt we'll stay there again. Of course we'd also hesitate to stay at CSR with kids. Super helpful, ha! Next time we'll do a split stay, now that we realize how important it is (to us) to reduce our travel time into the parks. Or rent a car.

The resort loyalty's on DIS can get a little hostile sometimes and all the resorts have their fans. But in the 6 or 7 years I've been observing DIS POR has by far the most people that continually invade every thread singing it's praises. That is why I coined the term POR army a couple years ago. It's not ment as an insult to the POR fans, more of a friendly jab. ;)

It's a fact that CSR has all those Deluxe amenities that POR doesn't and those things are important to me. Other than the amenites the rest is just opinion and personal taste/preference.

The food courts at both places have their fans that say they are the best.

Not part of any POR "army", but we have stayed at both and like both, but prefer POR. I like that you can use the pool at POR and POFQ and we like the option of taking the boat to Disney Springs. I do find the rooms at CSR to be a little nicer, but we like the atmosphere at POR better.

Keep in mind POR allows 5 in one room ( bayou section)
CSR offers more options for suites etc.. This are limited, but they have junior suites ( basically two rooms) and larger suites.

I've stayed at 4 different MODS: POR, CSR, CBR and POFQ and I find them all very nice and unique.
CSR has Business Conventions Held There: a Plus for this is buses are not full. I love their pool theme. It's a Beautiful resort.
POR is more Family Friendly feel, love the theme Old South, also love the boat ride to DTD. You can use both POR and POFQ resorts pools (staying at either) because they are Sister Resorts. POR is also a Beautiful resort but harder to book because it is so popular.
