POR vs All Stars

Not sure if this should be on this board or the Budget board, but here goes...a question asked a million times I know...

I have res for 12/2 - 12/12 at POR, ap rate. Not likely, but IF there is a chance I can get the ap rate for an all star it would save me $335 - $446 (depending on view). So the old age question...

1. Is POR worth an extra $446. It is myself and dd/11. We are park commandos and wouldn't spend a whole lot of time at the resort.

2. No offense to the cheerleaders/pop warners ;) ... just about crowd levels is my main concern, as I read they mostly stay at the all stars, but considering we'd be in the parks all day, my guess is that shouldn't be a problem?

I know it is all relative to one's taste & budget, but just thought I'd throw it out there! :) Thanks in advance for your help & opinions!

I am ALL for POR, but if you truly are a park rat (or shall I say mouse) and just need a place to crash....I think it's a no brainer. For me it would be anyhow. I would save the money and buy some stuff including a new make me feel good outfit for the trip.

Just my opinion!

TO INFINITY AND BEYOND!!

We always stay at the Allstars for that reasn. We spend the whole day in the parks, and only need a place to crash. I use the money saved, to apply to another trip,

Weve stayed at both.
After 2 trips to POR we thought it was a really nice hotel. Our only real complaint was that it was a long walk to our room and the layout is very confusing. But we still very much enjoyed our stays there.
Then we stayed at ASMO and were WOWed! This resort just screams Disney! Great food court, awesome theming, excellent bus service...not 1 complaint.
The only advantage to POR over ASMO to me is that we really enjoyed Bob, the piano player in the lounge. However when going with 2 young DSs, thats not our top priority. I would have a hard time paying extra money to go back to POR after being at ASMO(3x now).

While POR is a lovely resort, I'd go with ASMo, especially if you don't plan to spend much time lounging around.

The food court at either resort is good, they both have big gift shops, the bus service is fine at either...

Save the money or spend it on something you and daughter really want for a souveniers.

I think you answered yourself when you stated you would only be sleeping there. I have to agree with everyone else...sounds like AS is the way to go. The last time we stayed at AS, we met a couple who usually stayed at CR at least twice a year but because of refurbishment were not able to stay there. They decided on AS Movies and boy were they surprised. They realized how little time they spent at the resort and how much money they were saving. They used some of their savings to eat at a nice restaurant each evening. That's what I would do. Take the money and use it on some quality GRUB.

Thanks for the replies...you did put into print was I was thinking anyway! I don't have anyone to bounce this off of, so it was nice to get the reassurance. Now, if I can get that pesky little all star ap rate :p

Thanks for asking the question it is one that I have been contemplating as well. On the package we are on in March there is just over a $100.00 difference between staying at a moderate or All Star preferred. My kids really wanted to stay at ASMv while I would have preferred POR. since we are only there for 3 nights we decided it would be a good time to try the ASM.

Your from Jersey, and staying 10 days...do you have AP if you do the savings is the cost of airfare or if you drive and have AP's the savings would allow you to take a second shorter trip in the spring or summer...(staying at AllStar again)

Have a great trip...

We have stayed at both...and now we return to the All stars. We just didn't find the POR to be worth all the extra cash. When we want a great room...we go deluxe...when we want to save money...we go all stars. After tryin all the moderate resorts...we will never have a second visit to them again...just not worth it.
