My youngest is 11. She is very small for her age. She is 4'4" and 58 lbs. She wears a size 8. Would she be too big for the trundle bed?

I've been told by some that I cannot even book this room because of my kids ages 14,15 & 11.
The agent at the WD Travel Co. told me I could book it. But I needed to be aware that the trundle is a small bed reccomended for aged 3-9.

Would one room for 5 people for 10 nights be too crowded. I don't know how much time we will spend in the room.

Our closest alternative would be a 2 bedroom suite w/full kitchen and free breakfast off-site.

Two rooms at the value hotels are more expensive than the off-site hotel. And I would still need to rent a refrigerator(adding to the cost).

I have never stayed on-site and have not had any problems with staying off-site.

If I stay in the POR I give up space but gain the ability to be on site.

The Contempary and CSR are unavailable.

I am just having a hard time deciding what to do. :confused3

Our 10 yo nephew stayed on the trundle bed when we stayed at POR last year. He is average to slightly above average height. He was fine, and actually enjoyed his nights on the trundle bed. POR allows 5 in a room with the trundle bed, even if one is not under 3.

Your child would fit in the trundle bed. One of my DDs was probably a bit taller and definitely heavier when we stayed there and she slept in the trundle. It would be a tight fit with 5 in the room for that long but doable. I love staying on site. Also the trundle pushes under the bed when not in use so it doesn't take up extra space when you don't need it. The pool is great at POR, the boat to DTD is fun and the grounds are beautiful. There are lots of extra things to do at POR too.

Tried to book through WDW last week and because youngest is over 9 (we are in computer) they would not book the room. They said trundle was for 9 and under. I asked about the size 36"x65" and told them it was plenty big for my petite DD, but they refused to book it. I know I probably could have kept calling back and gotten a CM who would book it but I decided to go for more space and free breakfast with a two room suite (w/fridge & micro) at Doubletree in DTD and for only $8 more a night than POR. I hate not having a WDW hotel but I was not going to double my room budget this particular trip.

I have seen more than one person say they have not been able to book POR when the youngest is over 9 as the other poster stated.

Our family of 5 has stayed in POR several times with no one 9 or under for the last four years. Not once have we been told we couldn't book the room with a trundle. The person who usually sleeps on it is my oldest DD, who is now 18, but only 5' tall. She says it is comfortable.

This last trip was 10 days sandwiched in between a very long drive from and then back to Minnesota. We did fine, but every family is different.

Good luck with your planning!

I'm 5'5" and a half and 34 yrs old and I have slept on the trundle bed and it was comfy. In fact, my 63 yr old mother who is 5'7" kicked me out of the trundle so she could have it, instead of sharing the "big bed" with my 7 yr old queen of knees and elbows DD. We both found the trundle to be just fine and we both also have arthritis so I think if we managed to sleep on it, your child will be just fine. We love POR as a resort too, it's so nice there!

I can't answer your question directly because we weren't able to get the trundle, but I can put in a good word for the POR. We stayed there in the Mansions section the last week in July and had a wonderful time. The grounds are beautiful, the rooms are nice, and there are plenty of onsite recreational opportunities. You can rent boats, surry bikes, and carriage rides, plus you have a sit-down resturant and boat transportation to DD. These are amenities you would think would be reserved for deluxe resorts. It is nice to be able to use the pool at POFQ as well as at POR. I never hear much hype about the Ol' Man Island pool at POR, but it was really nice. I would guess that kids eight and over would prefer it to the pool at POFQ. The consensus of all in our party is that breakfast at Boatwright's was our favorite meal of the whole trip. That beat out some quite costly meals elsewhere too!

As far as the trundle bed was concerned, I requested a Mansions room in Magnolia Terrace with a trundle bed. I arrived and was informed that no such thing existed. I chose architectural beauty over the extra sleeping space and had them put us in the mansions. DS5 just had to share a bed with my older sister. We had five in the room too, but the fifth was DD1.5 who occupied a crib. Putting the crib behind the curtain worked out well for allowing us to move about the room without waking her up too early in the morning.

My baby son, who is 6'4" slept on the trundle bed because he liked it.

We had thought that his petite sister would be best suited for the trundle, but he slept on it for five nights.

We booked a room with a trundle bed back in January. When we arrived in July, they had no more rooms with trundles. They gave us a roll away bed in the Acacadian rooms (sp?). The roll away bed was very comfortable. They did not charge us the $10.00 fee for the bed because it was in the computer that we were to get a trundle. The only thing about the roll away was that you could not push it under the bed.

We LOVE POR. However, we were one of those that they wouldn't let us book one room w/5 of us because no one was 9 or under, regardless of how petite they were.

We did get 2 rooms and it worked out just fine after all with the teens in one room and us in the other (our room stayed nice & tidy :teeth: ). :wizard:
