POR this Saturday...a few last minute questions.

We will be arriving at the resort around 1pm, is it probable that we will be able to check in that early?

If not, can we still use Disney transportation (boat) to DD for lunch?

I noted my room request when I made my ressies, but do I need to follow up on this?

Should I be requesting a non-smoking room, or is that the default room type?

I think you'll be fine at 1pm. It will all depend on how busy the resort is and if a room is ready for you. But I've checked in as early as 10 AM.

You might be able to check in, but I wouldn't count on it. When we were there in March, we arrived around 1 p.m. and did get our room. We did have a back up plan with bathing suits and towels separate in order to hit the pool even if we didn't get our room. There would be no problem with you jumping on the boat to DTD and I would recommend having lunch at Earl of Sandwich! Boy are those sandwiches tasty!

To clarify - you can check in whenever you want, but your room may not be ready. If that's the case, you can leave your luggage with Bell Services (or in your car if you have one), and go take the boat to DTD or a bus to a park or whatever you want. They'll give you a phone number to call later to check if your room is ready. When it is, they'll give you the room number (you'll already have your key card). No worries!
