First timer here.....

I initially booked the Carribean Beach Resort, and switched it to POR-Riverside, Royal Room. Travelling with my HB, 6 yr old daughter and 4 year old son in September.

I booked the moderate bc of the free dining plan and wanted table service. I didn't realize that I could book a value and upgrade the dining plan. Uggh. So.... What to do? I thought they only came with the quick service, but you can upgrade for the table service! We can get a family suite at the Disney's All Star Music Resort, with the dining plan, including 1 table service/night for almost the same price as what we're paying for the Royal Room at POR-Riverside.... ugggh. Should we switch?

Which is better resort wise and why? Thanks for your help!

Never done a value, but the family suite would give you more room and a second bathroom. However, with four of you, I don't know that extra room and bathroom would be necessary.

We've stayed at POR three times, but not since the royal rooms have been added. To me, the princess theme is subtle based on what I've seen and I've read kids are intrigued for a few minutes and then they get over it. Also, the royal rooms are in two buildings that are a decent walk to the main pool and across the river via a bridge to the main buildings. Not the greatest location, IMO.

I don't think you can go wrong with either, but I'd probably stick with POR. The boat to DTD is really great and I love their food court.

Thanks for your reply. The extra room is what is pulling me....it would be nice to have a separate room for my HB and I. My kids will sleep better and go to bed at a better time. We will sleep better and won't have to go to bed at 8/9. LOL. Don't need the second washroom.... but then, as you said, the boat ride I think would be great, and the kids would love it! I wonder how the pools compare?

I can't speak to ASMu pool, but POR's pools are pretty good. The main pool has a lot of shade and then there are four quiet pools, which we typically use. There is one in between the two royal room buildings. We have yet to find the quiet pools to be crowded. You're also permitted to use the pool at POFQ, which has the big dragon water slide that is appealing to kids
