We stayed at POR two years ago in the Royal Rooms and we had a very pleasant stay. We did have a loose shower head the first time we went to take a shower. I was able to tighten it by hand easily. And there was one day where we had no refreshed towels or new toiletries. It took awhile to get hold of room service but once I did, room service came around an hour later with a huge bag of toiletries for us. Some we are still using up to this day at home!

Overall my wife really loved this hotel so it was the only place she considered staying at again for our trip next year. But I just did a search on Yelp for Port Orleans Riverside and wow.....it has negative review after another. Seems to be consistent complaints too, mostly to do with housekeeping and the cleanliness/condition of the rooms. Have things gone downhill at this resort since two years ago? Or are these incidents seldom occurrences? Kind of has me worried now...

Most Yelp reviews of every Disney resort are pretty negative. I would not let them sway your decision.

Disney resorts have a high price due to being Disney resorts. People compare them to $300/night hotels in other cities, and they do not necessarily compare in amenities or pure hotel services. Some people get very upset about this.

Riverside will be the only moderate not under refurb. It will be fine.

Yeah I think Yelpers tend to be a lot more critical over petty stuff too (even though I Yelp myself, it’s not usually over silly petty stuff).
I was just worried because the complaints seemed to all be about the same stuff. The upkeep of the rooms mostly.
Last time we went I went in with the attitude of knowing I’m paying a premium for the Disney brand. And I went in with lower expectations and ended up being surprised by how much better it was than I thought it would be. With both the resort and with a lot of our restaurant picks.

Our most recent stay at POR was less than 2 months ago, and it was very nice. Room was clean, housekeeping was good. The first morning we left a note requesting more shampoo and conditioner, and when we returned from the parks there was more than enough of everything left for us. We have always had pleasant experiences at this resort. I hope you have a wonderful trip :)

I rarely trust online reviews. I am even more likely to complain about a bad experience than praise a good or average experience. But, if a hotel has more bad than good reviews, I will pass.

I love POR. It is my 2nd favorite WDW resort (POFQ is #1). I love everything about it - the overall theming, the layout, the rooms, the food court, Yehaa Bob. I have never had a bad experience there. I'm knocking on wood right now because we'll be there in 6 days!
