I was wondering if anyone can tell me alittle about this resort. I understand there are different buildings, which one is closet to the river/Boatwrights? We are in a standard room, but would like to be closer to the dining and river transport. Thanks!

Some folks prefer the Bayou buildings; our family prefers the mansions. The best pleace we have stayed is Magnolia Terrace bldg. It is just across the bridge from the main pool, and just across another bridge from the food court/ main bldg. Best of all, there is a bus depot right athe back door ofthe resort. We expreienced great service the whole week we were there.

I think there may be some AB buildings that are a bit closer to the main building.

I agree, I prefer the mansions too and Magnolia Terrace is the building I'd recommend as well. If you'd prefer AB - bldng.#14 is one of the closest to the main bldng and bus stops though.

Check out the POR/FQ info. thread on FAQ -- that'll help ya out a bit too.;)

the mansion section is almost completly renovated. as for being closer to this and nearer to that, its no more than 4 or five minutes from anywhere to anyplace and you can enjoy the feel of the resort, thats why your staying there. i have a friend who whenever we used to go to Hoss'es for lunch he would tell the girl, we want a table close to the salad bar so we dont have to walk so far, now you could throw a dead cat from one end to another of this place. i have never been able to understand the whole get me closer thing. :confused3

I have to agree with the other posters, our family prefers the mansions as well and we never feel like we were too far away from the buses or food court. Then again I think POR is just beautiful and I would be happy no matter what building they put us in.

We just returned from our first stay at POR. We were in a standard room in bldg 18 (Alligator Bayou). It was a very short walk to the main building and bus stops. I was very pleased.

i loved our time at POR. We stayed in Alligator Bayou in building 38..short walk to the bus stop and an a lovely walk (through and across Old Man Island) to the main building. since finding DIS discussion forums last week, i've been getting a strong desire to return. When we do go back, it will be to stay in POR :earsgirl:

AB bldg 15 is very close to everything also. We had a very short walk to the bus stop, the quite pool and the food court. All were less than a 5 minute walk, which was important to us with 3 kids between 7 and 2. The bus stop was most important because we knew we would have sleeping kids after long days at the parks that I would have to carry back to the room!

We were in room 2709 in AB and it was only about 1 1/2-2 minutes from the food court, maybe 3-4 from the bus stop and 3-4 from the pool. We walked around a bit and discovered that the farthest room from the food court was only about 10 minutes. And that was at my 3 year old's pace. The whole place was beautiful and you won't be disappointed no matter where you stay. Check out www.allearsnet.com for a map and tons more info. Have a great trip! --H

Both sections (the mansions and alligator bayou) are beautiful. The mansions are very pristine and white and a perfectly manicured look to them. Alligator bayou is a more rustic theme - the landscaping is more dense - lots of trees and bushes and little ponds, etc. DH and I have stayed in both and used to prefer the mansion section but now we much prefer the bayou section - just suits us better. Either way, have a fabulous time! The resort is beautiful and make sure to stop by the bar and see Bob Jackson do his piano/comedy show. He's amazing.
