How good are they about requests? I have reservation for Oct 8-15 and just recently realized how many buildings there are and where the pools are and where the bus stops are. If I call now and request a certain building, will they be able to honor it?
Does anyone know what/if amneties they offer? Or how I found out?
Thanks in advance!

Calling ahead now won't do any good. Rooms are assigned 3-4 days out. Call then for a request.

When my DW made the ressies, probably in November, she requested a Mansion near to the pool and main building. There was no guarantee we would get the Mansions. When we arrived, we were given Room 8030 in Acadian House. So, we did get a Mansion but we did not request a specific building or anything when she made the initial ressie. We were not disappointed.

We had our TA request the building Magnolia Terrace and a corner room. We got both. Lovey view of the rose garden and very close to the quiet pool and bus stop. We thought it was perfect. I think you should always have your requests noted on your reservation and hope for the best.

Requests are just that, requests...but I will say that the CM's at check in are there to please you and will do everything in their power to satisfy.

We wanted bldg 14 or 18 and the CM that checked us in searched and searched for all people due out that day to see if anything would be available later in the day. We were given the option on a room available right away and waiting for the exact location we wanted. I'm sure this isn't always possible, especially at busier time of the year (we were there May 5-12, 2004)

Have your reservation noted and then work with whomever checks you in. No matter where you are in POR you will love it, it's absolutely beautiful throughout.

I agree with HANDYMOM. CM's will do everything they can to satisfy a request, but in the end you may not get the room or building requested. We have been to POR many times - not a bad experience yet!

I have always called CRO with my requests either when I made the ressies or shortly thereafter. That way the requests are already on the ressies when it arrives at the resort.

I have read many threads about requests being just a request and that cm's will help out if they are able to. My question is we're arriving on Friday, is it worthwhile to call or fax a request today? Is calling better than faxing?

I had my request entered when I made my original ressie. I called a week or so before and asked the CM what requests were on my ressie, just to be sure the original CM actually noted them - she had. If you made your ressie through CRO I would call them today and have your requests noted. Also mention them to the CM when you check in. All my requests were granted at Pop. From what I've read, it is not guaranteed that faxed in requests are even looked at.

I would call Disney directly, whoever you made your original reservations through. If it was CRO then call them. Give them whatever requests you have. But, be sure to put them in order of priority. Don't just give them a laundry list. I tend to ask for....non-smoking, higher level (top if possible) area I would like to be in. This way, they can tell what it is you want, rather than you saying I want room 1234 in Magnolia Terrace, facing the river. Way too limiting.
I have had very good luck with POR giving me pretty much what I need. In fact, in June I had made only a request for AB, non-smoking. And that is what they gave me but a bldg way in the back. When I said that they must have known I was coming and saved the farthest building for me, the CM said she could put me in bldg 14 if I didn't mind waiting a few hours. Perfect spot. So, give them a chance to give you what you need. THen once you have called CRO and given them your 'requests' you can fine tune them upon check-in if there is anything available that suits you better.
Have fun....POR is one of our favorite resorts.
