POR, POFQ or Coronado?

I just booked a spur of the moment trip to Disney for Memorial weekend - booked All Star Music since we don't want to spend a lot of money on a mini-vacation (we're going again in October). But now I'm thinking of switching to a moderate resort since I get a AAA discount. I'll be with my DH and DD11...any suggestions? Coronado looks like it might be geared a little more towards kids where POR/POFQ look more on the quiet side. We're flying down on the 28th but the value resorts are all booked for that night so the other possibility is to spend just one night at Coronado (the only moderate available for just one night) and then switch over to All Star...would that be a pain or should we consider a rental car for just one night? It's been quite a few years since we've stayed on Disney property and I don't recall if I saw people climbing on the buses with luggage in tow. Plus we would have to check out of Coronado at 11 am and wouldn't be able to check in to All Starts until 4 pm and that would be a problem with luggage...do you think All Stars would let us store our luggage there until our room was ready? Thanks in advance for any suggestions!! :)

CSR is wonderful. I wouldn't do the car rental as Disney just started there bus service from the airport (Magical Express) which should take you to your resort, CSR, for the first night. When you check out of CSR the next morning, you would just need to call bell services, they will pickup your luggage and transfer it to AS for you. This will allow you to take the bus from CSR to whichever park your going to that day. When you leave that park take the bus to the AS and checkin then call bell services to deliver your luggage. It really is easy to move around on Disney property without having to drag your luggage in tow. As for CSR, it is a wonderful resort without generally being overundated with tons of children (usually more adults as large convention hotel). The pool is wonderful and a ton of fun for the entire family. The food court gives plenty of options and you can also get room service here as well. Enjoy.

I find it the complete opposite. I found POR/PORFQ swarming with children and more adults at CSR.
It is pretty easy to switch resorts. I wouldn't rent a car unless you absolutely needed one.

We have stayed at POR twice and loved it both times, our group ranges in age from 65 to 7 and we all loved it. The atmosphere is relaxed and there are activities for the kids such as swimming in POR or POFQ pools, boat rentals, bike and surrey bike rentals, carriage rides, and fishin at the fishin hole on Ole Man Island. Also in the lounge there is a piano man who is wonderful for the whole famly, Bob Jackson. If you do choose POR or even POFQ, make sure you try a breakfast at Boatwrights. Also you have the boats to DTD, a nice change of pace from all the busses. Whatever you choose I hope you have a fantastic magical time!

We were booked for POR but now have switched to COR. Allearsnet.com rates it the best moderate for your money and after doing some research into it I'm VERY happy with our choice! :goodvibes

Thanks for all the replies...I finally decided on 2 nights at CSR and 2 nights at ALMu and when I called back earlier this afternoon the rooms were all gone at CSR (when I called this morning I had my choice of 1 to 4 nights) and std/waterview rooms at POR/POFQ also filled up since this morning:sad2: . All that was available was one night at CBR and there wasn't even any more AAA rates available so I'm paying full price. The CM suggested I start calling back about 6 to 10 days before we leave to see if any rooms open up at CSR or if any AAA rate becomes available at CBR. I was so disappointed because I really got my mind set on CSR. I guess I learned my lesson...if it's available, book it and make changes later!! We walked around CBR a few years ago and I'm sure we'll enjoy our stay there (after all it's only one night).
