POR/POFQ Entertainment

I've read that there is a piano player at POR and live jazz music at POFQ. Can anyone provide some details about both of these.

Are they every night and what time are the performances? Where do I find them on property.

Should we drive directly to each resort when we wish to see them, or should we take the boat from DTD? If we take the boat from DTD, is it a short walk to the place where the entertainment is held?

Do you walk between POR and POFQ or is it better to drive between them?

I've never been to either resort, but I've seen the boat launch from DTD and thought it looked like a pleasant ride, but not sure if it would be more convenient just to drive to the resort for the evening's entertainment.

I've never stayed at FQ so I don't know what the jazz schedule is.
At POR Bob Jackson plays Wed. thru Sat. (usually), this is subject to change. It's a great show with interaction with the audience. Very kid friendly, he often has the kids (and adults) get up and participate.

It's a 10 minute walk between the 2 resorts along the river, very relaxing, no need to drive.
Both shows are in their respective lounge areas near the front lobby. The boat would take longer by the time you wait for it.
If your not staying at one of those resorts the boat takes about 15 minutes from DTD (not counting waiting time). You can also take either resort bus from DTD. Either way, boat, bus, drive, or walk, both areas are a very short walk to the front lobby.

Bob Jackson (or Pianoman Bob, as we call him), is the entertainer at the River Roost Lounge at POR. His act is usually Wednesday through Sunday, and there are usually two shows, the first one beginning at 8 PM. He is very family friendly, and gets kids and adults involved with singing different songs, and the occasional Hokey Pokey breaks out from time to time. You can drive or take the DTD boat. Personally, I love the boat rides. At POR the boat docks right next to the main building where the River Roost is located. At POFQ, the boat docks a very short walk from the main building where you will find the Scat Cat Lounge. In reality, it would probably be more convenient and faster to drive, but the boats from POR/POFQ are one of the main reasons we keep going back to POFQ.

Its a 10-15 minute walk between POR/POFQ, or you could take a boat from one resort to the the other.

As many times as I have stayed at POFQ, I have never seen the entertainer there and cannot remember his name for the life of me.

The last time I stayed at Port Orleans, French Quarter (late Nov., 2006), entertainment at the Scat Cat Lounge was provided by Elliot Dyson. It seems to me that he performed Thursdays through Saturdays. Using a trombone, trumpet, piano, drums, and others, he played and sang numbers like "Rockin' Robin, "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown," and "Twisting The Night Away." He also took time to talk with the patrons in the lounge.

It's a nice way to spend a couple of hours, and I have enjoyed his music during several of my stays at the French Quarter, which span several years. I look forward to hearing him play again this December.

Thanks all! We are going to be in WDW for nearly four weeks from early December so we'll have lots of time to slow down and enjoy this type of entertainment. Really looking forward to it.

We loved Elliot in the Scat Cat Lounge in FQ! We were there late May into early June, and one of the highlights of our day was going down to the cafeteria, getting humongous ice cream cones, and listening and watching the show! I personally would walk to POR, with wait time, boarding, disembarking, etc. it would be quicker to walk. Besides, it is a very peaceful and serene path along the river! (Just watch out for those rascally bicycle things that four people ride in, they can shoot out of nowhere! We've just gotta try those out next trip!) Have fun!

We saw the singer in POFQ this past August. I don't rememebr his name but he did sing Bad Leroy Brown, plus others. It was memorable because there was a table with 2 women who were really enjoying the show. They would each take turns yelling Whoo! Yeahh! They would get up and wave theirs arms. One was wearing Viking ears so I assume they started their night of fun in Epcot!
