When DH and I first started planning our vacation, WL was our "dream" resort, but a bit out of our reach financially. Right now I have POR booked for $79 (state code) I am seriously thinking of booking a WL standard room for $119.

What do you guys think? Would the difference be worth it? We will probably be "commando touring" so I am not sure that we will even be at the resort that much, but having good transportation is important.

Just a thought - $119 is about what you would expect to pay for a moderate with a DC discount. $79 is a great rate also, but if WL is your dream resort, I would say go for it. If it's a little tight money wise, what about a split?

i would go for wl as that is an excellent rate that is the lowest in years. one thing though, you may get spoiled. we like por-french quarter, like por-reiverside but love wl.

I have to say the WL and heres why:

No matter what your view is, you get a personal balcony.
If you stay at the WL, you can ask for an upgrade and get a better view.
We will be at the VWL 9/16-9/22 so you might get to meet us:wave:

P.S.-You might be able to get a great deal on a room is you check out the Fall Fantasy package. Also look at www.mousesavers.com because I believe they are showing a major discount for that time of the year.

Definitely WL if you can swing the extra bucks, we love it. Hot tub, boat to MK.

I love the wilderness lodge but in september, I'm staying at P.O. Riverside. We just couldnt pass up the deal on mousesavers.com. Also, to me, the king size bedroom at P.O. is real close to the size of the standard WL room. Or at least it seemed that way last time I stayed there....May have just been the fact that there was just one bed in the room. Also, If you get the appropriate building at P.O. you can park extremely close to your room. I was less than 150 feet from my room door last time.
At the WL you are basically forced to use the vallet. And if you are a penny pencher **cough points finger at self** it saves a bit of money.

my 2 cents

I was hoping I wouldn't be the only one to prefer POR. I've stayed in both, and as much as I love WL, the standard view we had was overlooking WCC, and it was very noisy til close to midnite. Since we're "early to bed, early to rise" types, first ones at the parks!, this just didn't suit us. Much prefered the quiet of POR. If you can get the Woods View at WL, great, but if you need to save the money, IMHO, you can't beat POR.

79$ is a fantastic rate! That $40 saving over WL could be a lot of your spending budget per day. WL is very nice, but I'd save the money and maybe just take some time to explore it on a slow day. POR is a beautiful resort!:)

Thanks for the replies!

DH and I are going to go with POR and pay the extra $10 a night for a King room. We won't be in our room much and we can just head over to WL and have dinner at Artist Point to experience the Lodge.
