We are looking into booking for Dec 2004 and IF they re-open POFQ we are wondering what the opinion is from people who have stayed at both POR and POFQ and which one you prefer. We just stayed at POR in Dec and we loved it but I also liked the look of POFQ. Hoping for the pros and cons of both. Thank you very much for any help!

Port Orleans French Quarter is my absolute FAVORITE moderate resort!!!! This is a fantastic resort for so many reasons! First of all, it's small, so no matter where your room is, it's minutes from everything. The pool is grat with a serpents tongue at the waterslide. There is a kiddie pool off to the side of it, a jungle gym, and a hot tub tucked away amoungst the bushes behind the pool bar (oh yeah, there's a pool bar too). The fodcourt is very good and has a nice selection. Most of the "standard" rooms are garden rooms, which they keep very nice. It is very peaceful, especially in the morning. It does share some of its buses with POR, but always picks up and drops off at the French Quarter first. My family and I have stayed there many times and have never once been dissapointed. Have stayed at POR & CBR and disliked both of them. Found them too spread out for my taste, plus a few other reasons.

Hands down, POFQ is the best moderate on property.
:wave: ::yes::

I have stayed at POFQ it was really nice. The only negative for me anyway is there is no longer a sit down restaurant. That may not matter to you. Maybe with the rehab they will open it back up.

My family has stayed at POFQ, Coronado Springs, PO Riverside, and Animal Kingdom Lodge. We all prefer POFQ hands down. AKL was nice, but we don't stay in hotel enough for a deluxe. Coronado Springs was entirely too spread out- we had to get in the car to get to the bus stop- never again! Riverside was nice and pretty. We enjoyed it and had no complaints. We prefer the compactness of POFQ. Everything is so close together- you are always close to the main building, food court, and bus stops. This is the most important thing to my family. The clean New Orleans atmosphere is terrific with jazz music playing. It is a beautiful resort. The sit down restaurant doesn't bother us. Again, we are in the parks from opening to night shows, so the only thing we eat at the resort is from the food court. We are hoping it reopens for our thanksgiving trip next year! If not, we'll stay at Riverside.

We love POFQ!!! The compactness of the resort makes it! It's a very relaxing and cozy feel. The pool is great. Let's hope it reopens soon!::MinnieMo

I'll put in another vote for the POFQ. This is my favorite resort on Disney property. I find the size of it a lot more managable than the other moderates. I also like the themeing of the resort. I find it a lot more peaceful than the other moderates--I really enjoy just walking around the resort.

I really hope they reopen it soon. I have two trips planned this year, and hope to stay there for at least one of the trips.

I have stayed at both and like both for different reasons.

POFQ is smaller and easier to get around. Having the one bus stop is nice but you still share buses with POR. (although you are first on and first off at POFQ)

I like POR food court and sit down restaurant. We really liked Boatwrights. And we loved Bob Jackson in the River Roost Lounge at POR. You could walk over (or jump on a bus) if you wanted to see him or eat at Boatwrights.

If you use refillable mugs alot, POFQ is a better bet. Less of a walk to refill.

not much help I know. But I really do like both!;)
I don't think you can go wrong with either.

We stayed at both resorts and I don't thing you ccould go wrong between the two.

Food court- POR wins because it's larger then the POFQ.

Sit down restaurant- only available at the POR now.

Size- POFQ wins. POFQ is MUCH smaler then the POR and easier to get around.

Bus- They share them but I think that POFQ wins this because you always get picked up first, therefore always getting a seat.

Rooms- I like the POFQ decore better.

Grounds- A tie they are both beautiful landscaped. At the POFQ it feels like a baby version of New Orleans, jazz music in the backround and all the wrought iron, very nice too.

We are DVC now but if the POFQ opens up again we will definitely stay there for a few nights before we check in.

Good luck deciding, they're both VERY nice! If you can't make a decision flip a coin, if your disappointed with the outcome you know you really wanted the other one. ;)

We've stayed at AKL, BC, POR, & POFQ. French Quarter is our absolute favorite. Can't wait until it reopens. I read somewhere that when POFQ repopens, the sit-down restaurant will open too. It was a great place to eat.

We love POR and are going back this Easter...again!! We ahve to stay there because we need the trundle bed for our daughter. I Like the fact that there is a quiet pool by evry building, so if you need to do laundry, or the main pool is crowded, the quiet pools rarely have tons of people in them, and you can relax while your wash is going. POFQ is so pretty night that a couple of times we got off the bus there instead and walked back to POR (10 mins) by the river. It was very nice! And if if you get sick of the food court, you just walk over to the other one, with the Mardi Gras theme for a nice change. I can't wait till Easter!!!:earsgirl:

POFQ is our absolute favorte (DH, DD5 & DD8). We have stayed at several resorts and thisis our favorite. I hope it repens soon. If you have kids (or not), building five is a great location. It is close to the pool, food court, and there is a quick path to the bus stops. All of this resort is really convenient to most things. You WILL NOT be dissapointed! The boat ride to Downtown Disney is nice too!

POFQ is my favorite WDW hotel! There should be a room in bldg. 4 with my name on it! The atmosphere is wonderful. The food court and check-in desk are close by. The bus stop is easily assesible. I always have a great time there.

I won't be staying at any other moderates until POFQ opens again. I love it so much that I didn't even think I'd like the All-Stars last year, but I did. Will try out Pop Century this year.
