My husband and I are traveling to WDW on February 13th-18th. He has not been there in ten years and I have not been there in four years. We are looking for a Moderate hotel... As of right now, we have narrowed it down to POR or POFQ... but possibly Coronado Springs... What would you choose? Also, could you tell me what building/room area you would suggest.

We will have our car so bus stops are not a problem. We would prefer something quiet, a nice view would be great, romantic (??)... We are in our upper 20's and enjoy the nightlife also. Also, I have read this is a slow time at WDW, is that true?

Thank you for your time! I am so lucky I found this board!!!

Courtney,

First of all ...

Welcome to the DIS!!!

I would choose POFQ. It is very small and very romantic. All the rooms are close to everything and there is a boat to Downtown Disney from 11:00 am to 11:00 pm.

I would choose POFQ, it's smaller and IMHO more romantic.

And ignore the poster above me--he had a bad trip due to his poor planning and neglect--his wife claims she left her jewelry out in the room and he claims it was allegedly stolen by housekeeping, although no one has been charged with any crime, so he's actually commiting a tort at this point with his accusations.

POFQ has been recently remodelled and is quite nice too. I haven't been there before.

I was at POR with my wife and (2) small kids, and it was pretty quiet where we stayed at, Acadian Mansion. The noisy spots were the pool on the island and the main bldg. There is a little bit more nightlife than POFQ, but you'd be better off taking the boat cruise to Downtown Disney (The boat stops at POFQ too, and the trip is very relaxing). Although, nothing special about the room view, the grounds are well manicured and romantic at night.
Parking is adjacent to my bldg. in a large lot.

I would definitely choose POFQ. We stayed there in Sept and loved it. It's small and romantic and very beautiful. We actually stayed at POR our first night due to a mixup with Disney and I found it beautiful, but too big. I fell in love with POFQ as soon as we got there.

Another thing I liked was that the buses stop at POFQ first, then they go to POR. Sept is low season, and even then there were times where the bus would fill up and the POR guests would have to stand while all POFQ guests found seats.

POFQ would be my first choice, POR second choice. Both are great!! You'll love either one.

POFQ.... because the rooms have all recently been rehabbed to its in great shape at this point (they just reopened in the spring)

its small, so it does not matter which building you choose. All the buildings are convenient to the pool, lobby, food court, etc. Its VERY quiet....and the buses stop there before POR and drop off there before POR

plus, its a very easy walk to POR if you wanted to enjoy that resort at all....a small stroll down the path and you are in the POR lobby.

as far as nightlife....they have a boat that goes straight to downtown disney.

We have stayed at both, POR years ago (when it was still dixie landings) and POFQ just this past june......we enjoyed POFQ a little more

Having stayed at both, we prefer the POR to POFQ. The French Quarter was very nice and very pretty but prefer POR. Either one you will like. POR seems to be much more spread out. This did not effect us as we stayed in AB14 near the main bldgs. We loved the landscaping and general layout of the resort..smjj

I love both of the resorts and think you'd have a great time at either of POR or POFQ (I've never stayed at CS, so can't comment). A couple of nice things about POR (as opposed to POFQ) are: watercraft and bike rentals; full service restaurant.

While the two are sister resorts, if you're at POR you are closer to the rentals and restaurant if you choose to utilize them. Another thing is the horse carriage ride which originates at POR as well.

Really, you can't go wrong with either.
