We would like to stay at POR but worried if the main pool will be closed. Going Jan7 to Jan12. Talked to a CM at Disney and he didn't know anything about it and said he doubted it because of the Marathon. Any opinions for that time between POR or POFQ. It is 2 adults and a 12yr old son.

I haven't heard about the pool closure, but I love FQ. The Riverside part is huge. It look like walking from the bus stops to a room can be a hike. I stayed @ FQ recently & we were probably the farthest you could get from the bus stop & it only took a couple minutes - not a hardship.

You said you asked a CM at Disney about the pool closure...Was this a CRO CM, or someone at POR? If you haven't talked to someone at POR yet, you might try calling them directly (407-934-6000).

As far as POR vs. POFQ...I think this will be a matter of personal preference. We love POR...Yes, it is more "spread out", but it is spread out over a beautifully landscaped area with quiet, winding trails between the buildings. I suspect that the "worst-case" walks to the main building (food court, etc.) or bus stop are longer at POR than POFQ, but I think the extra walking distance is probably a drop in the bucket relative to the typical amount of walking in a disney day!;) POR has four bus stops, so the chances are that you will be reasonably close to one of them.

Have a great trip!
