I have friends who are taking their 3 teens to WDW the week before Easter - and are just now making their ressies! I know, I know. Anyway, I suggested 2 rooms at a moderate for the 2 bathrooms and extra space. Having not stayed at a moderate, would you recommend POR or POFQ - or something else altogether? Thanks for any input!

Well, first, how old are the teens? I've been to POFQ, but not POR and when I stayed at POFQ I was 14 (I think) and I LOVED it. Maybe because it was the first time I really went out into the "World" on my own (I went to Downtown Disney by myself, which was a big deal at the time), but I really liked the whole atmosphere of the resort. It's set up like a tiny city and for some reason I really liked that. It was as if you were in your own tiny town. It felt home-y to me. Plus, the arcade there was great. I don't know how much money I wasted in there...
I also stayed at the CS. That was nice too, but since I went when I was 11 or 12 I don't remember as much. One thing that really stuck out, though, was the walk from our room to the lobby. It felt like it took hours to get there. But the food court was nice and so was the pool. It seems like both the CS and POFQ had the same setup room-wise, so I suppose it's really what setting your teens are most interested in. Personally, out of the two POFQ is my favorite. But both resorts are very nice. I hope at least some of this helps.

Thanks for the input - the teens are 17, and 15 year-old twins. What is the difference between POR and POFQ? Any idea?

POR is a much larger, more spread out resort (about 2,000 rooms) and POFQ is about half the size of POR. POR is divided into 2 sections - Magnolia Bend (mansion section) and Alligator Bayou (more rustic rooms). POR has 1 main pool and 5 quiet pools. POR has a sit down restaurant and food court. POFQ only has a food court. They both have lounges and pool bars. POR's lounge has live family entertainment on certain nights of the week. POR has 4 bus stops throughout the resort and POFQ has 1. Their rooms are both the same size and they have 2 double beds, with a double sink located outside of the bathroom. AB rooms have a trundle bed for a 5th person that will fit a small child. POFQ was renovated earlier last year and POR is currently being renovated. MB is complete but they are still working on AB. Also AB (only 2 stories) does not have elevators, but MB does (2-3 stories).

I've stayed at POR many times but have never stayed at POFQ. I've read that the pool at POFQ is better for smaller kids as the slide isn't as big, but I'm not positive about that. POR and POFQ are sister resorts, and you can use the pools and amenities of the other resort when staying at one of them. You can also take the boat to DD from both resorts as they both have marinas.

Hope this helps.

We have been many times with teens. I would recommend POR my teens enjoyed the quiet pools much more than the main pool. Too many little ones to have to watch out for at the main pool. The quiet pools are usually not crowded.

Thanks for the replies! I will recommend POR to them. Would you pay the extra for waterview? Any recommendations on a particular building in Magnolia Bend? I know the parents will like a quieter location! With 3 teens, who can blame them??LOL!

Of POR and POFQ I would say absolutely POR for teens. The FQ pool is geared to the younger set. Just much more activity at POR.

Now as far as other choice - my DS (15) LOVES CSR. Says it is his favorite. The pool amenity is great, large hot tub, beach volleyball, largest slide. He loves the food court, Pepper Market.......and it has the water amenities as well. I would have them look at photos and description of both CSR and POR.

PS At POR (or FQ) they can take the boat to DTD if that is something you would let them do. My DS (15) has gone down there with friends.

We went to Disney in November and stayed at the POR, Alligator Bayou. We opted to rent two adjoining rooms since we had two teenagers. It worked out perfectly. If I remember correctly we were in building 18, I think. We were very close to the food court, gift shop, marina. It was close enough to the pool to allow the teens to walk over by themselves. They had a blast. I'd definitely recommend the POR.

Never stayed at FQ. My teen enjoyed POR. I don't think they could go wrong with POR

The teens would love the dig site at CSR. Check out pics of the main pool area, which includes a sand volleyball court, largest hot tub on WDW porperty, an arcade, a food stand, a large pool with a 123 ft slide, on my CSR website below.
