I wish i knew about this web site prior to all my other trips....it's fantastic!! This is my first post so i hope i do it correct and someone can help me. We like POR but just found out about nurses rate of $99 at Dolphin. POR will cost rack rate with 20% AAA discount. We have never stayed at Dolphin..which would you choose?

The Dolphin, hands down. Nurse rate of 99 is insane, I have it for 149 next week. Great deal, location is fab, in and out of Epcot and MGM via walk or boat.
Stayed in PO and enjoyed there very much, but there's nothing like a Deluxe for under 200 and you have 99, go for it. You will not be disappointed. You will have to pay 7 for parking. I think the 10 resort fee will be d/c'd by the time you go. You have all the privileges of a Dis resort except charging to your room key.
Have fun. We leave in 2 days :bounce: :bounce:

I have stayed at both resorts and like both for different reasons. POR is one of my favorites, because we love to take the boat to DD after a day in the parks (DH needs his Ghiradelli fix :) I also like being able to walk right out of the room and head over for coffee in the morning. We love the location of the Dolphin! But, the Dolphin is huge. We got an upgrade to a balcony room, but it was a long hike to our room everyday! I would have prefered a room much closer to the lobby area. Also, the $99 rate is great, but you have to add on $10 for the resort fee, $7 per day parking fee, and 11.5% tax. $99 = $127.39 per night. (I called the resort and was quoted this price directly)

I love both, but take advantage of that great rate for the dolphin. Just in case you don't see it again...

Dolphin hands down!! :flower: It is right next to the YC and has the transportation ammenities that POR doesn't. YOu can walk, take a boat, or a bus to Epcot or MGM. Its a hotel, with a restaurant, room service, etc.. The POR is nice, but it has open corridors and you have to walk outside to get to the restaurants. I just switched from CBR to the Swan (has queen beds vs. The Dolphins doubles). The nurses rate is fantastic! We deserve some perks :flower: !!!!! We are both nurses and will be on our honeymoon! I don't think you will be disappointed switching, you will have a fantastci trip!!!
The location can't be beat!

Thanks for responding so quickly..we will probably go with dolphin..we love POR but it's nice to try something new! Now..which is better...Dolphin or Swan??

does the Swan offer nurse/teacher discounts as well as the Dolphin?? What do you do for transportation to MK while staying at Swan/Dolphin, if you don't have a rental or your own car?? Thanks.

Swan & Dolphin use WDW transpo, so you would just grab a bus to MK like you would from any other non-monorail resort.

Gald you picked the Dolphin. You have a FANTASTIC rate! I doubt you'll be disappointed. Swan/Dolphin are our favorite places to stay in WDW.

My thoughts exactly!

We prefer the Dolphin over the Swan because it has more of the conveniences we are looking for; Tubbi's Buffeteria (open 24 hours), the arcade, laundry (just in case) health club and it seems closer to the main Grotto Pool. The lobby is bright and festive!

I do prefer the bathroom layout at the Swan over the Dolphin's, but not enough to make me want to switch!

Enjoy! :sunny:

Take the Dolphin. We're looking for either Swan or Dolphin at the Teacher's Rate, usually $139 - $149, in March and POR is our fall-back choice. My wife prefers the Swan, aside from being smaller than Dolphin and without a 24/7 food court I don't see any difference and would snap up either. You can walk to Epcot, MGM and the Boardwalk and that's enough for me.

Definitely the Dolphin. My family loves it--the location is fabulous, the staff are wonderful and helpful, the beds are the best (the only hotel beds I actually get a good night's sleep on!)

If you decide to go with the Dolphin, go to www.spg.com and sign up for the Starwood Preferred Guest Card. It's free and you earn points toward future stays at any Sheraton/Westin hotel. Add the number to your reservation and there's a good possibility (particularly if you go in off-season) that you'll get upgraded. We were upgraded to a balcony room for our first stay and I hadn't earned any points.

thanks for the great tip..I'm signing up now. We are going end of August so that might be off season.
