POR or AKL?

Hi everyone,

I'm having trouble deciding between two resorts the POR and AKL. I you guys could reply in the next couple of hours that would be great, since I'm leaving on sat. I would need to change ressies soon. I'm only going to stay for two nights and am only going to MK, also will have my wife, son (16) and daughter (4)
with me. Any help would be appreciated thanks.

Here's the reply of one person in that thread (I don't know their dis name to give them credit though):
"For the love of God, switch to AKL!! It is a beautiful, wonderful, fantastic resort. I found POR to be a pretty dull resort-- I didn't enjoy my stay there and wasn't impressed with the theming. I think your kids will love the atmosphere and the animals at AKL. They have lots of children's activities and animal programs. I just so happen to have a lost of the activities here at my desk, so I'll ramble a few off...flamingo feedings, animal tracking, medallion crayon rubbings, cookie decorating, pelican feeding, pool activities, crafts, music of the savannah, african games, african folktales, animal night vision viewing....there is plenty for the whole family to keep busy."

I have read a lot about AKL on this board and people rave about it so I chose to stay there for the first time in Oct.

Even though I haven't stayed at POR , I'm staying at AKL for the third time in less than a year.Forget about POR , you will love AKL and your family will absolutely adore you for picking such a great Hotel.

I have no doubt that AKL is wondeful. But is the cost worth it for just 2 nights? Also, since I'm going to arrive relatively late (4 pm) on Sat., spend all day at MK Sun., and leave early Mon. is $60.00 a night more worth it?

It all depends if you are going to be in the parks all day and you are just using it to sleep in. Or if you are planning to relax around the hotel, AKL has more to do then PO. I have only visted AKL but it was very nice place. I have stayed at PO and love it, I don't know about the food court at AK but PO is your basic pizza, pasta, hamburger, sandwiches. I don't know if there is alot of noise at PO because of repairs going on right now. But if I had the choice I would go to PO and spend the extra $60 on my family. I hope this has helped you.

Definately AKL. We just stayed there last week and it is our new favorite! It's awesome and definately worth it. When making reservations, I asked the CM if any discounts were available. On the first call, I was told no, but on the second a few days later, I was given a rate of 124.00 (including tax) for a standard view. Then at check-in, I was given a free upgrade to savannah view. I've read that discounts pop up on the CM's screens at random, so if the first doesn't offer a discount, try calling back. But even if you never get one, it's still worth it. Hope this helps.

I think I'm going to stay at POR, since I'm going back in Dec. or Jan. I think I would enjoy AKL better if I have more time there. Thanks for the responses.

I think POR now and AKL later is a great idea. Both resorts are great, in my opinion. It is really a win-win decision. Have a great time!
