POR or AKL

There was a mix-up with a prior ressie and we had to reschedule our trip for this coming weekend. My issue was elevated (long story) to supervisors.

We ended up reserving 4 nights at POR. I spoke with a CM today (that was assigned to my "problem") and there is availability at AKL.

Just wondering if I should switch. It's a $40 per night increase. What do you think I should do.

We have never stayed at a MOD before.

40.00 a night isnt really that much, actually. Not too bad at all for what you get. AKL is easily the best 'themed' hotel on property, even if it's not everyone's favorite. The theming is truly impeccable and if kids are in the mix, you'd probably be much happier. We are staying at the AKV in Oct of next year and I'm just in a tizzy about it!

However, if you've never stayed at a MOD, POR is a great choice. SInce I'm from the south, I thought the 'bayou' theming would be boring to me, but it wasnt. It was really cool and relaxing on the paths to the ALligator Bayou buildings, even if it was a long stroll. I liked the rustic decor in the rooms also and almost every building has a nice lush view. THe downside was definitely the hike to the main building from our building (which ws on the outter edges of the complex) and the numerous stops our bus had to make before it was able to get on its way. And that was before FQ was reopened (in 2004) so it's probably even worse now.

Well it really depends on personal taste. I have stayed at both and personally I love POR. (Will be there next friday ) However AKL was very nice. We had a Savannah view room and I enjoyed waking up to find animals outside my window. Everyone besides me seems to think the food at AKL is excellent where I find it just average in the world. POR is a quiet and cozy place to stay, and great for the price! POR is spaced out more. If you are looking for convience I would stay at AKL. I enjoy the atmosphere more at POR. But its totally up to the kind of vacation you are looking for.

For only $160.00 more I'd go with AKL!! This way you avoid the shared buses at POR.

Thanks for the advice. Our family stayed at AKL in Jan and loved it.

We were scheduled to stay at AKL 2 weeks ago but there was a mix-up with our ressie and we had to reschedule. AKL nor WL had any availability with a AP rate so we chose POR. I heard great things about it but DH likes the larger beds and no bus sharing at AKL.

I just called and made the change on my reservation.
