hi. just returned from 8 days at POR, and we loved it. we stayed in alligator bayou building 18. their was plenty of space for 2 adults and 2 children ages 8 and 9. I am not a light packer and had adequate space for clothing in drawers and on hangers. I loved the two sinks and seperation curtain.

We were very close to the quiet pool in building 18.. and enjoyed the big pool at old man island. DS8 went on the slide at least 50 times a day..I enjoyed the quiet pool since less people and children after long days in the parks.

POR was a true southern resort. I loved the grounds and rystic setting. We had no [problems with bugs outside or in our rooms...

We brought cereal for breakfast in the morning and bought milk at the hess close to the hotel..Food court was average but i enjoyed the fruit snd cheese plate as a snack, about 5 dollars. Also loved the ceasar and cajun salad..it was amazing. I ate it everyday for lunch. I had a sundae one night in the hotel..it was better than gharidelli anyday..

We enjoyed the boat to downtown disney about a 20 minute ride and came every 15 minutes. We did not use the disney busses but traveled with family who did and they had no problems with it. We even rented paddle baots for a half hour..tiring but nice view of the river..

POR meet all our needs and we loved it. It is a rustic themed resort and i am not an outdoor girl but loved it. I would go back in a second..POR cant be beat.. :earseek:

We stayed at POR in April, love every minute of it. Just walking the grounds is a vacation compared to where I come from.

Thanks for the *review* This where I'll be spending 8 days in February (after leaving AKL I was leery of the switch down) and you just helped me feel better about it! Thanks and glad you had a good time! I also want to rent paddle boats with the kids!

Thanks for the review. We will be staying there for the first time Oct 29-Nov 4. I requested the AB section for the trundle bed. Did you use it? How close was your building to the bus stop and food court?

Thanks,
Terri

Hi mimi! I remember you! We were DANCING on the same thread, counting down til our trips!

Now they are over :sad2: but I guess it is time to start planning our next trip...right?

HA..we checked into POR on Oct 14 and we were in AB building 17! So we were neighbors for an evening! We ate at Boatwrights on Fri night. It was ok. I mean, if I stayed there I may eat there again, but I would certainly not journey from another resort to eat there!

I rode the boat Fri night to DTD, but DTD was PACKED! It was just DD and I so we ducked in to Ghiradelli's and got a shake and a cone and called it a night!

I think Ol Man's Island is a GREAT pool for a mod! DD got spoiled on the Keister Coaster at BWV, tho, so the slide seemed small to her. We pool hopped to POFQ and decided we like POR much better. DH liked the rsuticness of AB over the Mansions section, but both are gorgeous.

Thanks for your review!

We are booked for June. We have requested Building 27. It looks like it would be equal distance to Ol' Man Island and the main building. So based on your times it will probably be about a 4 minute walk either way.

I like to actually 'see' the resort anyways, so a little walk is fine. Plus for the amount of walking you do in the parks, the walking at the resorts is very minimal.

Why don't people complain about the parks being so big and that the rides should be closer together? :rotfl2: :rotfl:

And while Building 14 is real close at POFQ, I would hate to have the convenience but then come home and realize I don't know what the rest of the resort looks like.

We just got back from POR the end of September and LOVED it too! I just wanted to say the Building 27 would be a great building! That is what I would request on the next trip. It is closer to the pool than the Main building but still is not a far walk. We were in building 28 and the walk was fine for us and my mom who has two bad knees. I looked at it as good excersize, especially since we had been piggin out on the free dining!

I would of loved to have walked over to the Mansion side if time would of let me. I loved strolling through AB and had we gotten building 14 I would of missed that. Here is a picture I took from where the food court is looking across to building 27 (far right) early one morning.

Here is another picture taken from the other side looking towards the food court. It's not really far at all. Took this the morning we were leaving. :sad1:

I am sure you are right since it is your picture..............but are you sure that is Building 27? I looks really close to the food court. I was looking at the resort map and your picture and it seemed like it was too close!!

Hi!

I'm glad you had a wonderful time :sunny: . We stayed at POR AB this past June/July and we loved the resort as well. The only issues we had, and it was probably because of the time we went as well...very busy :confused3 , was the Busses. It seemed they took forever to come and after a long day at the parks the only Resort Line that was really really long was for POR. But guess what - we were at Disney and we had a Magical Time! :goodvibes

I see what you mean, I think it's the angle that the picture was taken at or maybe the zoom on my camera. It does appear like it is right there but actually there is some of the river between the dock and the building that you can't see......Honestly, it is much closer in real life than it appears on the map at least it seemed that way to me. I thought it would be much more spread out than it was. It is 27 though because we would have to walk past it to get the path to Building 28. Here is another pic taken of just the building from where the bird was in the first pic. You can see the stairs in the picture and I highly recommend asking for a first floor if you will have strollers or trouble with the stairs. There are quite a few to climb.
