Which mansion should I request if I want to be closest to the buses but not too far from the main bldg/foodcourt. Is Oak Manor the best choice? Feet are tired at the end of the day and we won't want to walk too far. Thanks!

We stayed there last Sept. and I think that Oak manor is by far the best building there. You won't be disappointed with it. If we ever stay there again thats where we will stay. Have a great trip. The resort is wonderful. :cool1:

I don't know what number Oak Manor is but Alligator Bayou is #14 and it was the closest to the lobby, restaurants, store, and south depot bus stop.

We stayed at Oak Manor just this last trip. We were probably the furthest room b/c we were right next to the parking lot. But if you were to get a room thats near the front of the building you won't have a problem.

Oak is kind of in the middle of 2 bridges that go over the river to the food court. Not a bad walk at all.

Also remember that there is more than one bus stop at POR. At the end of the day, or beginning for that matter, if you don't want or need to go to the dining area, catch or get off the bus at the East depot which is behind the mansions.

Oak Manor is the closest mansion to the main building but is still quite a walk. It is building number 90.

I was just at Oak Manor last week in room 9014. My room was towards the parking lot, so I did have a distance to go to both the bus stops and main bldg. If I were you, and had the extra money, I would request a room with a river view so you would be facing the main bldg and have a shorter walk.

Here's a link to my trip report . . .

Glendamax-
What building did you feel was the closest to the main buildings/bridges? What floor were you on? Was it quite?

:sunny: That's where we stayed in March 2005, and it was perfect! Great location, close to everything, and right in the center of all the action. You have a short walk to two of the bus stations, and you're a short walk over a wooden bridge to the food court. I thought it was the best place in the entire resort!! :bounce: :bounce: :bounce:

If you are looking for the absolute closest building, it is #14. It is not one of the mansions though. It is in Alligator Bayou. No elevators, if that matters to you.

Oak Manor was the closest mansion to the main bldg, but as you come off the bridge, my room was to the far left, and in the back towards the parking lot. My room was on the bottom floor (Thank God!).

And as was said earlier, in the Alligator Bayou section, bldg 14 is the closest.

Thanks Glendamax. I followed your link and read your trip report. Can't wait to stay at POR. Sounds like you had a great time. And how nice your mom was to cook dinner and leave it for you to eat upon your return :)

Oops just realized this post was POR, we are staying POFQ

Hi, we have a standard view room booked for Sept 28-Oct 1 and was wondering our best bet to be closest to the main building. I don't know anything about this hotel, it's our first time. Are there elevators at any of the buildings? We'll have 15m, 4 & 6 year olds with stroller. So with this said, what would be the closest location to the main building we could get? Thanks all!

POFQ is a smaller resort. The farthest buildings would be 1, 6 and 7. Buildings 3 and 4 are closest to the main building and 2 and 5 are closest to the pool. However, because it is a smaller resort you might get a room in building 2 or 5 (closest to the pool) and still be as close as if you got an outer room in 3 or 4.

Hope I didn't confuse you. Here is a site you can check to view maps of the resort layouts magictrips.com
