POR Musts :-)

Yes...I can hardly give up POR because of that reason and Turf Club has good steaks, I hear it is a best kept (wink) secret, MissyTara...nice to hear that confirmed.. Also, I know RFC gets crap reviews, but their breakfasts are really good. Haven't tried the Earl yet, there's just to much to do, eat, see...too little time! That's also the great thing about POR, I think it is a perfect down time resort after a busy day at the parks. Very serene!

I was very lucky to do a solo, all resorts, no parks trip one year and discovered that little gem, the Turf Club and the wonderful patio. I ate lunch there and you could listen to the water taxi come over from DTD and the golfers would walk over and catch a snack. Their onion rings with the sauces were to die for.

My other little gem is Olivia's Cafe at OKW. That is my breakfast on my last day; also discovered it on the same trip. What a lovely ride back to DTD and then a final walk-through before heading back to the resort and the ME bus.

I have to tell you, I know people do knock RFC, but my ritual every year (since I arrive the Saturday of Thanksgiving and it is still very crowded) is to head over to the bar at RFC, get the Bamba Wrap and watch some college football while I am waiting for my room to be ready. Wow, what a great way to start vacation.

We stayed at POFQ but ventured over to POR. We loved them both and plan on staying at POR this September if we return. I have to add, enjoy the Movie under the Stars. My dd and I had a wonderful time doing this activity at POFQ. Also, the pools at POR were awesome and we loved, loved walking around the main part of the resort with the beautiful bridges and horse and carriages. I can't imagine spending extra staying at a deluxe resort when there are resorts like POR. It truly is beautiful and transports you to the deep south and bayou. Love it!!!!!

You had me a onion rings...your plan sounds quite good, may have to copy it. November is a good time to go.

We have looked at other resorts, specifically monorail resorts and come back to POR. I just love the ambiance.

Taking all must do's, must sees or must eats at POR!! Will be staying there for the first time in September!!

I'm leaving on the magical express now from our second stay at POR and while we loved the resort there was one issue! The buses! They are awful! I had my car last time so we could just drive whenever it was really backed up. This time we flew so it was awful! I will say we by chance ate at boat wrights one night and it was the best meal of the trip! Our waiter Jon was fabulous ! He was the server we had all week! Ask for Jon if u happen to eat there! We had the prime rib dinner and it was one of the best steaks I have ever had! Ridiculously delicious ! The s'mores campfire is a must do ! Also if your looking for a yummy adult beverage the piña colava is soooo good! Yee haw bob is amazing! The man keeps his energy level at a 10 for hours! He's awesome! The resort is really beautiful! Just beware of the bus system! I hope you have better luck than we did!

we are looking forward to celebrating our 25th anniversary in Sept. I would like to watch the movies however I have read there are no seats. My hubby has had a knee and a hip replacements so sitting on the ground is out. Is there anywhere we could get a chair?

No. It is out in the courtyard on the grass.

I would go to Yee-hah Bob's show instead. Tell him it is your anniversary and he will definitely recognize your wonderful achievement!

Thanks. we were planning on seeing Yee-hah Bob but I guess we will have to forgo the movie--too bad it sounds like fun

I think it would be helpful to say what was awful about the buses. People say this and don't always give specifics, ie., a specific time of day awful, too long of a wait for one awful, etc? I know a lot of people complain the buses are awful if they have to stand and I don't include that because the buses are going to try and fill up as much as possible to move the most people as possible.

It just might be helpful to explain what you perceived as awful to help others "plan." ;)

I have to agree; at some point, you can only put so many buses out of the road. You have to expect buses to be crowded if you go to the main depot from about a half hour before rope drop until park opening. You have to also expect it at park closings as well. In between times, it is probably just fine.

I leave a half hour after park opening and never have a problem. I do a dinner at a resort and then return to the resort for evening down time. We were five adults and two children a few years ago and we went at off times, and we never had problems getting seats.

Also, IMHO, many people are not used to taking public transportation and they tend to not realize that buses will be crowded and you will be standing at times, but that is the nature of the beast.
