I keep reading everyone staying at the AB sections. Who has stayed in the mansions? What do they overlook? Is it not as private as the AB section?

Thanks

We just got back from POR, although we stayed at AB, I would keep in mind that the Mansions are much further away from the food court and bus stops (unless you use one of the back bus stops).

Every bus we took we had no problem getting a seat (we got on the bus at the main stop). By the time the bus got around to the 3rd stop it was generally standing room only or they had to wait for the next bus. I saw that as being a major downer for the mansions. They seemed very quiet mostly older people less children around.

We've stayed in the Mansions on all of our visits, never have stayed in the AB sections.

We stayed in Arcadia house, very nice view of a garden area. Very close to the bus stop (North stop I believe). There was a fountain there.

We stayed in Oak Manor and Magnolia Terrace one view was near the Gazebo, again very pretty garden view. (don't remember if it was Oak or Magnolia). These were close to the East Depot bus station. One night hubby stayed on the bus and I got off at the main bus stop. It was a tie as to who got to the room first.

All are very pretty views and the quiet pools are quiet :goodvibes

We stayed in Paterre Place last Sept. It had just reopened the week before from renovation. It is not a bad walk to the bridge across the river to the food court. We used the quiet pool between Oak Manor and Paterre Place and never ventured to the main pool. I wouldn't pay extra for a river view as only a few rooms had a great view. I like the mansions and would defintely stay there again the Sept, but we're gonna give POFQ a shot.

I stayed in the Mansion section of POR when it was still Dixie Landings. It was nice but the buildings are bigger with straight corridors so it felt more like a large hotel. Also the buses were crowded or full by the time they got to our stop. I like the AB section better. The design of the buildings give an illusion of a smaller building. It seemed more private to me. Also, I stayed in Building 14 so it was close to the first bus stop. (POFQ was closed then for renovations.) Also it seemed to me that there were more trees and shade in the AB section.

and we found they were just as easy to get to the pool, food and buses as when we stayed in AB. We stayed in Parterre Place and Oak Manor. Minutes to walk anywhere. Look at this map http://www.wdisneyw.co.uk/pofqrmap.html and you will see the resort is pretty much built in a circle around the main pool. The rooms are beautiful and the gardens are as well. The pools are more your upscale apt pool look, but we just went elsewhere to swim. Either side is very nice, just a difference in "bayou" or "parish" feel. PS We always had water view so we looked at the river/and could see gardens.

AB section does not appeal to us at all. We love the Mansions. We stayed at Magnolia Terrace. Loved it! We have booked MT for this Dec. Can't wait! The buses being full by the time they got all the way around the resort is a common complaint. You can always walk to the main depot. We always rent a car, and we drove most of the time. One night we did use the bus, and it was crowded both to and from the park.

I respectfully disagree. There are Alligator Bayou rooms that are much further away than many of the mansion rooms. http://allearsnet.com/acc/pomap1.jpg

I just got back from POR and loved the Mansions! We stayed in the Magnolia section and it was very close to the food court and the bus stop was right behind our building. I was also suprised that most of the times we were the ONLY ones at our bus stop! For July I couldn't believe this.

We stayed twice (Dixie Landings then) and both times in the mansions. We loved it. We stayed in Acadian House and Magnolia Terrace. It never seemed like a far walk to the food court and we loved the quiet pools. As a matter of fact, we never used the main pool. POR is just a beautiful resort. :)

We've stayed in the Bayou area on 4 separate occasions. I love the look of the Mansions - perfectly manicured lawns, gazebos, etc. - but to me, they have the look and feel of a hotel. The Bayou dwellings are much more secluded and rustic and private.

I enjoy walking the grounds of the Mansions, but prefer to stay in the Bayou.

We stayed in Oak Manor at POR and loved it. The feel is different from AB, but it didn't feel like a big hotel. Our room overlooked the private pool. It was very quiet.

We also did not have a long walk to anywhere. The main building was just over the bridge. We used the main bus stop there more than the one for our building. It was nice having the quiet pool right outside our building.

Both sections are beautiful and neither is any closer to everything. If you look at a map, you can see that the sections come off of either side of the main building and meet up at the other side. Both have close buildings and far buildings.

One thing we like about the mansions is that the buildings have elevators if that is important to you.

Hi For our personal taste we prefer the mansions, I enjoy the walk across the bridge over the river, I love the beautiful gardens and the open expanse of river, the lovely fountains and even the interior of the mansion rooms is to me nicer than the bayou.
We did stay one night in an AB room but were moved the next day at our request, we felt the bayou to be cluttered with buildings too close to each other and there was no real view from our room. but that's just my personal opinion and I know that many people love the AB so maybe we were unlucky with the room we were given. :Pinkbounc

We stayed in the mansion section of POR (then Dixie Landings) in 1995. I really liked the resort, but my wife did not like the buildings at all. Her complaint was that each building looked the same.

The entire trip, she would turn the wrong way and start heading towards the wrong building. I would always correct her, which she hates. Finally, on our next-to-last day, she told me to stop correcting her. She's an adult!

When we were heading to the car, my wife missed the turn for the parking lot. I was about to say something, but then I remembered that she did not want my help. I let her continue on her way, and I turned and walked the twenty feet to our car. I loaded my bags into the car; still no sign of my wife.

I got in the car, started it, and cranked the A/C; it was about 96 that day. About ten minutes later, my wife rounded the corner and headed to the car. She threw her bags into the back of the car and slammed the hatch.

She didn't speak to me until we reached Savannah, GA! I can't repeat the first thing she said, but you can probably imagine that it wasn't too nice.

Sorry for the length of the story, but all of this talk about the building reminded me!

BTW, we didn't even see the AB rooms until three days into the trip.

Sorry for being a bit dull here, but for the POR the map lists 3 bus depots:
West, North, & East.
What is the order that the buses take?
thanks
