POR: Mansions or AB..you decide

First time we stayed at POR it was in AB. We had never been there before so didn't even know there was the option of AB or mansions. When we walked around touring the grounds, I wished we were in the mansions because they were just so pretty, and I am really into that "Gone With the Wind" type stuff. So next trip I requested the mansions, and turns out I did not like them as well. Outside they look nicer, but inside, IMHO, AB is more themed which to me made it a better room.

We were just the opposite. We were in Mansions first, as I didn't like the look of AB at all. Second time there we got AB, and I was disappointed, until I got into them. I prefer AB MUCH more than the Mansions.

I have stayed at both and I like AB a lot better then the mansions. You are alot closer when you stay in AB. I felt like I was in the middle of nowhere when I stayed at the mansion part.

When Dh and I went last year with out the kids we stayed in the Mansion section. If we ever stayed at POR again with the kids I would like to try the AB section. I love POR. You probably couldn't go wrong.

We've stayed both - and liked both. I give a slight nod to the mansions for the fact that although they are in bigger buildings, they seem quieter. This is probably due to the fact that the AB section has the trundle beds, and so probably has more rooms with 5 people in them and more rooms with familes. The quiet pools at the mansions seem like they usually have less people in them than the ones in AB. That being said, I think we're doing AB next time as we want to see the refurbed rooms in AB since we've seen the ones in the mansions in our last trip.

I love the look of both the Mansions and the Bayou. I'd posted a thread about a month ago regarding best resorts for those with asthma/allergies (DS9 has the former and we both have the latter).

Because of the "lush" landscaping I've read about at AB, I booked with a request for the Mansions, hoping that there'll be less up-close plantings, etc.

Any opinions?

I voted for the Mansions because I always got lost looking for my room in AB.

Well, after my vote, the score was 59 to 59! That's not going to make your decision any easier.

I voted for the Bayou, but I would recommend getting a building somewhat close to the main building. My room was so far that it felt like I had to walk all the way to Louisiana to get some food!

I like both, but am very picky about which buildings. In Alligator Bayou I like Building 14...nice and convenient to the main building, but still not right on top of it.

I like Parterre Place the best of all of the mansions. Again, very convenient to the main building, but not too close.

My favorite though, is staying at PO-FQ.

Well thanks to all that voted but being that it was split straight down the middle, I've decided to go with AB, just due to the comments about the landscaping and all. Thanks! It's too funny that it ended this way.
