Whenever we stay at POR, we ask for (and so far have gotten) the Magnolia mansion. What's the good/bad about the other mansions? Any preferences?

We always like Oak Manor and Parterre Place because they are close to the bridge that goes over to the main bldg. Love the quiet pool they share.

Acadian House and Magnolia Terrace are closer to the main pool though.

Love Panterre Place. It's quiet, great quiet pool and close to bridge to walk to lobby.

I stayed in Oak Manor, it was a great location.
Some of the building is smoking. I was on the first floor and the section I was in was non smoking.
It looked to me (but I could be wrong) that upper floors were the smoking rooms.

Parterre Place is NON smoking and a wonderful location. We always request to stay on the "quiet pool" side of the building as this is closest to the bridge going over to food court/main bus stop. We love this location and have stayed there 3 times.

Are the mansions prettier than AB? I will be going to POR with DH & two sons... Am very interested in opinions of which mansion/AB is prettiest, cleanest or the best in your opinion.

I have pictures of 3 of them in my online photo album. Just click POR Christmas trip 2004 to see them. They are beautiful. I felt like Scarlet O'Hara staying there. I love Gone With The Wind, so the whole Mansion section appeals to me. I just don't like the AB section. It is not that the section is ugly. The themeing just isn't what I like. I know lots of people do like that section, especially if you need to have 5 in a room. It is really a matter of personal choice.

We've stayed at Paterre Place and Magnolia Terrace, which are bothe non-smoking. We liked Magnolia Terrace better because it seemed more like a southern plantation. It had a beautiful gazebo and decorus walkway. Paterre Place seemed a little more pretentious with its fountains and reflecting pool. The layout of Manolia Terrace is in sort of a double horseshoe, which allows for more courtyard views, which we really liked. This is, however, a matter of personal taste. The best thing about PO-Riverside is being able to see Bob Jackson on the piano after a long day.

We have stayed at both the Magnolia Terrace and Partiere Place. I liked Partiere place the best. The theming is very beautiful. It is right next to the quiet pool on one side and a short walk across the bridge to Sassagoula Steamboat Company which houses check in, the food court, Boatwrights, the game room and the souvenier shop. You are right where the river bends going toward Port Orleans French Quarter. Magnolia Terrace was nice, but not as convenient to the food court, etc. Also, I guess the fact that we paid for a water view, and instead had a first floor room with the window right behind the stairs didn't help much. We were young and too ignorant to have known we could have requested a different room.

I've stayed in all 4 mansions (5 trips) and like Magnolia best. Supposedly, Parterre Place is closest, but I think the walk thru the center pool area makes Magnolia a pretty close one-and I really like the walk. Also, I love the looks of Magnolia best-that Gazebo by the water is beautiful.
