We are staying at POR for the first time 5/29/03-6/4/03. Could anyone recommend a good room location if we stay on the Magnolia Bend side? Also, in case for some reason we can't stay there due to the renovations they will be doing, could you also recommend a good location in the Alligator Bayou section.

Thanks so much.....this is a great site to get info!

I can't say for the Magnolia side but I can on the Alligator Bayou side. ..... any of the 14, 15, 16, 17 & 18 bldgs aren't too far from the food court. I can also tell you that I was told some of the bldgs at POR will be closed during your time frame. I will be there 6/1-6/9 & CRO confirmed that some of the blds will be closed. She said it would be the ones that were the furthest from the food courts. If you do a search, there are also some other threads on this & I think someone posted the closed bldg numbers......

Sharon thank you for that info. I will look to see what will be closed. I just hope they don't close any amenities. Does that ever happen???

Also, I would still be interested if anyone has any info on the Magnolia side.

Hi Shelly:

We just returned from POR - Parterre Place. We have stayed in almost every location. The post above outlines the best bayou sections. I believe Parterre Place to be the best "non-smoking" mansion. The food court is less than a 3 minute walk. Quiet pool is between Parterre Place and Oak Manor. I think Oak Manor is a "smoking" mansion. Many feel that the bottom three floors are less attractive due to foot traffic noise and toilet flushing. We have not found this to be a problem. There are elevators in each section.

Hawk.

Hawk,

Thanks so much. Could I ask one more question? Are the magnolia rooms close to the main pool?

Thanks again for the info!!!

We love Magnolia Terrace. It is non smoking and closest to the main pool. And the food court is right on the other side of the island. :D We like the courtyard view in the Middle of the "H". The top tips of the "H" could have a longer walk! That is the case in all the mansions, just different shapes. Check out the online maps. Enjoy! :D

Thanks BibbidiBobbidiBoo-

This info is great!!

We plan to spend lots of time relaxing, so we do want to be close to the pool.

We will enjoy thank you again!!!!

We were just there for Easter week. We stayed at Magnolia Terrace Room 7811. It was great. The room was non-smoking, which is a must for us. The room was toward the back of the building so we were a short walk to the East Bus Depot which was great late at night with 2 kids. It was quiet too. We never heard the buses. It was really close to the Ol' Man Island pool. The quiet pool was even closer to us and we were a really short distance to the food court & Boatwrights.

Hope you love your stay there.

Thanks Noelle,

That sounds great. I am going to call in a couple days and hopefully as long as Magnolia is still open we will request to be on this side. It sounds like everything is pretty centrally located at this resort. I just didn't want the kids to have to walk a mile every time we wanted to go to the pool.

Hope you had a good trip...thanks again for your info.

Hi Shelly

Main pool is not far from Arcadia or Magnolia about 3 minute walk. Probably 5 minutes from Parterre and Oak Manors.

We stayed in Parterre Place last December. Our room was right over the bridge from the main building. If you want to be close to the main building - for refilling mugs, etc. Stay here. It is non-smoking. If you want smoking - Oak Manor is close too.

If you want to be close to the main pool, then Magnolia Terrace is the building for you. (Although I recall on one of these threads that Magnolia Terrace was one of the buildings they were closing.) It also looked the most beautiful (IMHO), but we wanted to be closer to the main building.

Maggie
