Which do you prefer Magnolia Bend or Alligator Bayou? We would like to be close to the Ol Man Island pool and the buses. I actually read that if you have a trundle bed you have to stay in the Bayou section??

Any tips on buildings to request would be great!

Trundles are only in the Bayou.

When we first stayed in the mansions, I never thought I would like AB if we were put there. They did put us there the next year and, even though I'd stay in the mansions again if i had to, I MUCH prefer AB. The trundles are in Alligator Bayou, so if you need one, that's where you'll be. It's gorgeous. The landscaping is lush, you see rabbits and squirrels all over, there are little bridges over tiny little waterways, and it's extremely quaint. I love it! Bldg 14(I think) is the one closest to the food court and such, but I'm not sure what would be closest to Ol' Man Island. We've always requested bldg 14 but never gotten it.

I read a thread of someones trip to POR and
said they were 4 in a room with 2 teens siblings (boy & girl)
and couldn't sleep together so they requested a roll away bed.
I forgot if there was a charge for it or not.
They stayed in the Magnolia Bend section.
Maybe someone else would know more about getting
a roll away?:thumbsup2

We have been to both several times. I like the Mansions as the grounds are well manicured and I like the southern mansion feel. My wife likes the AB sections and the swampy landscape. Both are very nice. Many feel that the resort is spread out which makes the main buildings far away from the rooms. We have stayed at the "far reaches" I guess, but have never walked more than 5-8 minutes which is not far for us (but that is us).

Try to get a corner room as the double windows make it feel like the room is bigger, but I don't think it is. The trundle bed is only available in the AB section. If the AB section is near capacity and your party is less than 5, they are likely to put you in the Mansions, unless you request AB section. We were at the Mansions one time and requested a portable bed and they did not charge us for it even though I brought it to their attention.

The bus stops are fairly close, but at times can seem to be isolated from the world. The main bus stop is near the main building and many people use this one as it is near the food court. The last several trips we have rented a car and only use the bus for MK. hen we go to MK we make sure we are ready to catch the first bus out of this depot.

Try to stay away from the bus depots at the prime times for boarding and departing and ditto that with the food court and you will have a wonderful time. It is a great resort.

POR is our fav resort, AB favorite section. We've been in bldg 14 and close to everything, and (I for get the #, but its right next to the furthest MB bldg) in the last AB bldg and away from it all, and its all fine with us. DD10 and I are early birds, so when we wake up (and now with our unexpected blessing DD2 joining us) we'll walk the resort, grab an early breakfast for ourselves and just enjoy the scenery before getting some takeout and doing a room service delivery for DH and DD15. We seem to catch the bus at whatever depot is nearest our room, but even if its standing room only, most guests will vacate a seat when they see a mom with little ones.

We always request AB, but not a specific bldg, and we've always been granted our request. My older 2 don't like to sleep together, so we've always requested AB. I think if you request a specific bldg...especially the ones closest to the food court, you might be disappointed if they can't fulfill your request. This resort is so nice overall, distance to the FC is not a big deal for us, and since Old Man Island is central to pretty much every bldg, it doesnt matter where we are.

Enjoy your trip!

I think the entire Riverside Complex is magical!! AB has a more rustic atmosphere & the "mansions" are much more "southern refined". Both are beautiful!

I'm sure you'll enjoy either.:goodvibes

I am at Alligator Bayou as I type this, and I have to say that I don't think there could be a more beautiful setting. We are in Building 15 and very close to the main area, yet it is very peaceful and quiet in our building. (Not necessarily in our room, as there are 5 of us.) We are having a great time and this is day 6 of our 10 night stay. I always feel like I've come home when I get back to the room at night. I have never stayed in the mansions because we need the trundle, so I can't really comment on the differences.

HTH....

I agree also, we LOOOOOOVED the AB section, so gorgeous. Mansions beautiful too but we prefer the AB area (we thought we would prefer the mansions). Anyplace you stay there is lovely.
