Hi,

I'm new to all this so bear with me. We have always stayed in Deluxes (Poly, GF) since we are a family of 5. We didn't plan on going back until July 2005 and then unexpectedly decided to go this July too. YEAH! We planned on going to HRH for 5 days then over to GF for 4 nights. My question is, since this is an trip we didn't plan on I've been thinking of changing our reservation to POR Alligator Bayou. Since our kids are only 6, 5, and 3 the issue of the trundle bed isn't a problem. DH thinks it will be way too inconvenient using the buses to MK. What do youthink? How long is the bus transportation from POR AB usually? Also will we be very disappointed in a mod after deluxe. I think it will be okay since we already have GF lagoon booked for July 2005. Thanks with all your help! Sorry if this was too long.

It is all about expectations, my dear. The luxury and convenience of the GF is incomparable to POR. The kids probably won't care, but it sounds like your DH will regret the bus transportation system. If you stay at POR, you may want to consider renting a car.

Mrs. Ambassador, the little delegates and I love POR. We have not yet stayed at the Deluxe resorts; simply waiting until the delegation is old enough to appreciate the difference. And we know we will never look back at the Moderates.

We love the POR. The rooms are nice and the grounds are lovely. The bus ride is not a long one to any of the parks. The small
private pools are nice and not very crowed. That makes it nicer for the kids. Good luckprincess:

Several years ago a friend and I split our stay between POR and GF. It was great!!

Both hotels are awesome in very different ways. POR has the food court, beautiful grounds and the bus ride has never been a problem. I love it because of its proximity to Downtown Disney. It also has the food court, which is very convenient and can help you save more money on dining.

DisneyMomx7, welcome to the Dis!

On my family's last WDW vacation, we began at PO-RS and then moved to the GF, followed by the BCV. Honestly, it didn't matter what order we did the resorts in as they each offered us something different in the way of a vacation experience.

We did PO-RS at the beginning of our vacation because it was the only time we could easily squeeze in a stay so that we could see my daughter & my favorite show -- the Bob Jackson (click here) show at the River Roost Lounge. If you haven't checked out Bob's show, please consider doing so. We had an absolute ball (and those nasty rumors about me conga-dancing through the lounge are sadly true -- I think KingGoofy has gotten his hands on photos of my dancing, drats! ;) ).

We stayed at the CSR in 2003 after a stay at the GF in 2002 & we still really enjoyed it. We knew it was not a deluxe and we didn't compare it to one. DD really liked the look of the CSR pool so we chose it over the Poly (staying there this July though :)). As long as you're prepared to accept it as a moderate (and not compare it to the GF ;)) you should be fine...go & enjoy it. :)

I have to admit though that I do like the convenience of the monorail. I'm not much help am I. ;)

Have stayed at both hotels and you will not have any regrets! The children will prefer POR because of the dragon slide and there will be alot of other children running around playing. When we stayed at the GF last summer, or DD is 12, and there wasn't very many small children around. It is a nice hotel but DH commented it is better as a romantic getaway hotel than a family hotel and I would have a agree too. You will enjoy it but you will enjoy the POR just as much! As for the bus ride, sometimes you have to wait on the bus but sometimes we have had to wait on the monorail! Hope you have a great time!
