We have a trip to WDW planned for June to celebrate our daughter and son's birthday. We will be staying at POR. Our question is this.... If you had the choice would you rather stay in Alligator Bayou or Magnolia Bend and why?

hi - we've stayed at both -

we liked magnolia because the quiet pools were not crowded - but we liked alligator because of the foliage and atmosphere - it depended on what we were looking for in a vacation -

I have a POR package booked for Sept. We are planning on staying on staying on the magnolia bend side because we prefer the mansion style buildings, as well that side also contains the royal rooms if you're into those. I also like how there are only 4 larger buildings (with a 3rd floor which I also prefer) as opposed to a bunch of smaller more spread out buildings.

We are heading there in June as well and are celebrating a sons birthday too. We have never stayed there but for some reason I am drawn to Magnolia Bend. Have a garden view requested and will be faxing in a building request.

We have always requested and received Magnolia Bend because I was not fond of the decor in AB. However, since the refurb, AB rooms have drastically changed the decor and its much more appealing to me now. I wouldn't hesitate to stay in AB at all. Something to consider is that the mansions are three floors with elevators and have more rooms per building. AB is two floors but with no elevators and has less room per building, but more buildings in one area if that makes sense.

A year ago we visited POR by boat from DTD. We saw the mansions, and decided to stay at POR this past January. We stayed in AB, even though I was not excited about being "rustic" at WDW.

However, we loved the place! The lush gardens and trees are beautiful. We hope to go back this fall.

I don't think you can go wrong with either section.

We've stayed in the Magnolia Bend section the past 3 years and loved it! The quiet pools were never busy, and there's such a peaceful feel to it.

I love AB side. I love the more relaxed homey feel to that side. the lush foliage and large trees make it shady and give it a private feel. The small pools are also very quiet.

It really comes down to your own preference.

I love the mansions side because I am from the south and love the feel of it.

AB is very rustic and appealing as well.

Both sides have good locations that are close to the amentities, lovely walks to the main building, close locations to quiet pools and transportation.

The only drawback I see to AB is if you have one or more strollers and end up in a second floor room; since there are no elevators on the AB side.

I wouldn't hesitate staying on either side for many reasons, but personally I prefer the mansions.

Just returned from POR on 4/8. 1st stay at POR. Stayed in AB because we needed the murphy bed for family of 5. Very far from main building/food court area. Thankfully, I drove this trip and drove to the main building whenever needed. I loved the resort but would pay extra for a preferred room next time around if I decided to stay there again. My kids prefer All Star Sports over POR...just to play on the football field. They love it. I had originally booked a split stay at CBR and Poly in August......but changed it to AS Sports and Poly after they voiced their opinions.

I love Magnolia bend....I usually pick the same place every year. It's my favorite of all places, including delux. The walks for both places are beautiful. You will LOVE it.

Thanks for all of your comments. It doesnt sound like we could go wrong with either. Now to just make up our minds..... Decisions, decisions, decisions!!!

We have had 3 stays at POR and always request the Mansions. I prefer the decor of the rooms more. Not a fan of the twiggy furniture of AB.
I like being along the river, and the mansion section is easier to get around, and Magnolia Terrace & Acadian house are well located, close to everything.
