We've book a non-smoking King room at POR for 3/30 -4/4 and I'm trying to decide on a room location to request. Just by reading the descriptions of the areas I think I would like to request a mansion, upper floors. Everyone talks about AB but I don't hear much of anything about the mansions :scratchin Is there something I should know? Also are all kings corner rooms? I thought I read that somewhere but now I can't find it. And lastly, where can I find pics of the inside of the king rooms. Is there much of a difference on the inside between AB andthe mansions? We have no kids and don't really mind a little walk if it means a little more piece and quiet.

 Thanks for all your help

DH and I stayed at POR in the mansion section in a king room in 11/2003. We loved it! We were on the bottom floor and our room was not on a corner. The rooms are exactly the same as the ones with 2 beds, but with the one king size bed. We were in Parrate Place (the farthest from the main building) and we didn't find the walk to be too bad. We at at the food court everyday and used the bus stop outside the main building. It is absolutly beautiful and we found it to be very quiet and peaceful.

I actually just went to AAA yesterday to reserve a room for our upcoming trip. We decided to do POR again and requested the mansion section again because we loved it that much.

We also stayed in a mansion room and loved it. We were on the bottom floor which for us was great because we had a stroller to deal with. Loved the pool area. They have the pool hole for everyone and then there were the quiet pool near the mansion too.

I am glad to finally get some input on the mansions :) Has anyone walked to POFQ from POR, how long of a walk is it? It's so hard to tell on the maps but I don't think its too far. How about pics of the inside of the rooms? I can't seem to find any good pics :confused3 We are getting so excited to go!

BankBunny, we drive through Easton PA all the time!

yeah, I'd like to see some Mansion room pics myself, being that we've only stayed at AB section.

I don't know how far that walk to POFQ is because it was closed for refurb when we where there. Have you tried www.allearsnet.com for pictures? I think they had a lot of POR pictues. I know that I've seen pictures inside and out from the mansions there. Not any of the king size bed rooms, but like I said they're the same with just 1 bed instead of 2. I have pictures at home, but they are from my pre-digital camera days.

 tink_n_pooh where in northern, NJ are you? I DH and I both grew up in Hunterdon county.

I'm gonna take a look at allears again this afternoon, I looked there from home but I've got super slow dial up there.

BankBunny - I live in Sandyston, Sussex County and DBF lives in Morris County. We drive thru on Rt. 611 quite often on our way to Doylestown.

I would say the walk between POR and POFQ, boat dock to boat dock, is maybe 10 minutes, at most. It was a a lot quicker than I had expected, and very pretty, too.

We stayed in the Mansion section on a family trip several years ago. My sister and her son had a room in the AB section. When I saw their room, I was jealous. It seemed so much more themed than ours! If we ever go back there, I'll request an AB room.

Hmm, what do you mean by themed? :confused3 Was there room nicer?

Ok, I looked at the pics on allears and now I think I like the AB section better. Those awful floral bedspreads in the mansions might get to me after a few nights. I think I might just request a room close to the main building and see what I get.

The mansion room struck us as being not very different from any other hotel, maybe with slightly fancier furnishings. The AB rooms had unique rustic touches thoughout, and appealed to us the same way the Wilderness Lodge does. We also liked the wilder looking landscaping in that area, as opposed to the manicured grounds of the Mansion section.
