Ok, Folks I am posting this under an assumed name.

DGF and I are going to Disney in a few weeks or so (time frame will give it away all names and dates will be changed to protect the surprise ) this will be our first on property stay second time doing Disney. We will be staying at one of the moderate hotels (hints to fallow ) for 7 nights. We have booked an Illuminations cruse for the second night there and I have made a PS for CG in the middle of the trip. We don’t plan to hard cause our plans always end up changing hourly. Ok hears the Fun part and the part she doesn’t know (shhhh she might be reading this) I am planning on proposing to her this trip! Hear is how I plan on doing it. I have arranged for a nice cheese and fruit cracker wine baskets to be delivered and the day it will be delivered we will be spending the relaxing buy the dig sight (her idea of a vacation is lazy sunny sleep in late days go to bed late I am the park commando must do everything that day) , after returning to the room we will take the cheese and wine baskets out to the hammocks and watch the sunset that when I will pop the question.

Anyone got any suggestion this is all I could come up with She might know its coming (she caught me looking at rings on ebay one night) but I might be wrong about it that why im not at CG (would be to predictable) the illuminations cruse we are sharing with 5 others

I think wine and chesse at the hammocks sounds great. YOu will enjoy planning the night at CG, or the Illuminations cruise would be my second choice. Where are you taking your cruise from? Jeff at the boardwalk cruise is the BEST>

Good LUck and Best Wishes

Just want to add in that I've always thought it would be wonderful to be proposed to near the castle, perhaps in the rose garden....*sigh* Soon, I hope ;)

How about hiding the ring in something in the wine/cheese basket? I don't know, maybe a little Mickey Mouse box or something? Make her think it's part of the goodies that was included in the basket.

dh proposed to me in front of the castle on sept. 8th, 2001

it was magical :)

Could you save the wine and cheese basket for a night where you could watch the MK fireworks from a remote spot, like the beach at Poly? I don't know of any other secluded places to watch the fireworks. I like the idea of proposing where it is just the two of you, as opposed to a restaurant or the Illuminations Cruise. I must say I have never really paid attention to the sunsets at WDW, but I'm sure no matter where you propose it will be magical!! Congratulations!

I'll just second swilphil; keep it private and personal. It may sound cute, but I've seen public proposals and it seems awful embarassing to me. Unless she's the kind of gal who'd really enjoy all that attention, the beach sounds right to me.

I strongly disagree with the, "keep it small and personal" idea. Every woman I've EVER known loves attention (not knocking it, just making an observation). They love to get flowers in their office because everyone asks them about it. They love it when their man does something special for them in public because it makes them feel as if they've made the right choice in a man. It makes them feel special.

With that said, here's how I proposed to my wife at Disneyworld:

I called DW ahead of time and ordered a glass slipper and had it engraved with our names and the date I planned to propose (October 13th 2001--it was a Friday, a full moon and an E-ticket night). Then I made reservations to have dinner in the castle (my wife LOVES castles) and had them deliver the slipper to the castle beforehand. I also arranged to have the wait staff bring it to the table. I also made sure to schedule dinner to be done by the time the fireworks went off and I requested a seat by the window (great place to view the fireworks, btw). When the lights came up, we turned around and the ENTIRE waitstaff was standing there. Our server had a silver platter with the slipper wrapped in MM paper and presented it to my (soon to be fiancee) and said, "A gift from your prince." When she opened the gift I proposed to her. EVERYONE in the place was watching and we got a standing ovation. People came over and congratulated us and she just LOVED it.

Keep in mind my wife is not what you would consider an outgoing person. Just trust me, women love the attention.

Just wanted to add....

My dh proposed to me almost 12 years ago in France, Epcot Center. I had just started college and absolutely wasn't expecting it! :) He waited until sunset and found a perfect bench in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower to take it all in over the water. He was so nervous he forgot to get down on one knee. ;) **just a little hint** The timing was perfect and although he tried to wait until we were more or less alone, we still ended up with a crowd clapping for us. :o It was a very memorable occasion.

BTW--guess where we spent our honeymoon??? ;)

Wow, some great responses
TinkKel I love the idea of the gift box in the basket when I first read your post I thought maybe one of those tacky rose ring box stuck in the mix with a few real (Aurora thank u for planting that seed). Then I came to GadgetRick and the Glass slipper (bangs head on desk) That wood be perfect to slip in the basket. I am still leaning towards what swilphil, DrTomorrow have said just the two of us But Rick has started me wondering wood she like a big production.

Now just a few Question does anyone know if the hammocks are all tougher or are they spread out thought the resort?

And Rick where or whom did u order the slipper from?

Soul,

First thing, I'm sure your future wife will be happy no matter what you do for her. Just knowing you're thinking of her and have put some thought into this will make her feel special.

With that said, I searched on the Internet for the number they have specifically for this sort of thing. DW has special packages (you can search on "proposal packages" or something like that) for proposing. I wasn't happy with any of them because they were all very elaborate and would have tipped her off to something strange happening. I wanted this to be all about the surprise. I asked the very nice lady I spoke with (can't remember her name) about doing the glass slipper thing. She arranged for it. Then I called the central reservations number to reserver dinner and told them I was planning to propose. They get this all of the time so they know how to handle it.

One thing I've learned about Disney, if you don't see it, ask about it. If you're not sure they'll do something, ask them. Unless you're asking for them to do something totally wrong they'll, typically, do what you'd like them to do. This is one of the things I LOVE about Disney.

Good luck in whatever you do! I remember when I did it and how excited I was. It almost didn't come off as my company was going out of business and laid off a bunch of us 3 days before we were scheduled to go. There were some other issues with the ring I won't elaborate on now. In the end, it worked out better than I could have ever hoped and I am married to a beautiful person (physically and mentally) and have an awesome little boy.

Ok, I'll stop now. Although I did post here and did what you're doing before I came up with the final idea. I hope you do what I did and let everyone know what you wind up doing and how it works out for you.

Good luck!!!!

I am sooo jealous. At least I can admit it! DH use to be romantic. The first year we dated (ok..we were in high school) but he took me to shows and to dinners and walked me through parks and even blind folded me and took me up to a cliff (not to push me off:p ) but to watch the sunset. Then he turned. He has never been romatic since. He asked me to marry him when we were in the middle of a fight.

I had come home from a 2 hour commute and he had been home all day. This had been the millionth fight we had about cleanliness..he is a slob. (We still have problems with it.) Anyway, I came home and the house was disgusting..there were clothes everywhere..he hadn't done any of his dishes..food never got put away..I had had it. I came home and I said look, if you can't even clean up after yourself on days when you are not working..I can't live with you. I walked into the bedroom and he came running in after me..he said that he wanted me to marry him and that was what he was doing all day.

It was the worst proposal ever..I told him to do it over and all he said was.."you told me if I asked you would say yes..well there you go I asked now you have to say yes.."

I love him dearly..but I do to this day resent that!

I love the glass slipper idea. Whether it's public or private, she will love it because you had to put some time and thought into it. The more public it is, the more you have to worry about outside interference, like a 3 year old having a temper tantrum nearby--that would be my DS. I also like the idea of France, or somewhere in Epcot's World Showcase. There are several places where you can be fairly isolated.

onecoolmama--I can relate. My husband asked me to go look for rings when we were eating pie at a Perkins type restaurant, and then basically asked me to marry him in the jewelry store. He too had always been very romantic and has been since. I think he was so excited about the idea he just couldn't wait, but I was a little disappointed he didn't do something more creative.

I, too got engaged at WDW. DH asked me after dinner during dessert in the castle. We had a table next to the stain glass windows and it was timed perfectly, we walked out and watched the fireworks. This was years ago.
Doesn't WDW now have services for getting engaged while at their property?

I thought there was a service also lanthanum,

but haven’t been able to find a phone number anything on it a phone a website nothing (but I thought I saw it also) would love to find some info on that

Wow! What a thoughtful guy you are! If the glass slipper doesn't work out, you may want to contact Jane at Gifts of a lifetime. I have used her twice. The 1st time we renewed our vows on the beach at the Poly. My dh had no CLUE what was going to happen. She set up a nice picnic we kinda "accidentally" happened upon while walking on the beach! There was nice basket with goodies and also a bride and groom hat ... then there was a card that said I would marry him all over again ... He was soooooooooooo shocked! Thank goodness he said YES! LOL! ;) Then, she and her pixies came out of hiding and did a the nice ceremony! It was very private (except for the pixies). She does this sort of thing often, so I am sure she has great ideas! The 2nd event was in the rose garden in the UK at EPCOT. DH didn't know we were taking a Disney cruise after our stay at WDW! She arranged a scavenger hunt in the UK with all sort of nautical items. Then, the items lead him to the rose garden (very secluded) and he had a gift ball. He was really speechless when he figured out we were going on a cruise that very same week!
(I think he was more shocked that I kept it a secret!) :) :)

Jane is awesome!!!! Just a suggestion! Good luck whatever you decide and let us know how it goes!

Hey. I did a little searching for you and I also couldn't find an official Disney link. Maybe they don't offer thsi service anymore.
Why don't you call them directly at the number off their wedding website?

Disney has discontinued their engagment packages. I, too, always wanted to be proposed to in WDW, but my fiance is very analytical. He was planning on proposing on our trip this past July, but became worried about airport security. He said he could just picture him getting his carry-on searched with me peering behind him. He worried that he would have to propose in airport security! Not exactly memorable.

Instead, before we went to WDW my parents threw a surprise party for me after my college graduation at our country club. When we walked in, my fiance was intent on me opening the gift that was sitting on my chair. I fought my way through the crowd and opened the box (Disney, of course). Out of the corner of my eye, I saw him going down on his knee and I pulled Sebastian out of the box. My ring was in his mouth!

Though I had counted on Disney, this was the best proposal I could have ever imagined. I joked that the country club is like "his" WDW so it was fitting. Having all of our family and friends there made it even more special. The point is, even if it's simple rather than elaborately staged (which is great, too), she'll be thrilled simply because you did it.
