But yeah - Im a bad parent. REAL bad.

My favorite - and dont get me wrong, I wouldnt ever want my kids to smoke - but the way they teach them??? Not very cool. I loved having to explain to both my boys in liiiiike 4th grade, or so, that although the DARE instructor told them that cigarettes are the same as Crack and Cocaine, that I am not a drug dealer.

I know what theyre trying to teach them - but ..... I dunno. Not cool, IMO. :confused3 :sad2:

They seriously tell them that?? Sheesh! ITA, not cool.

Yeah - they seriously teach them that. It kinda disturbed both of them.

When son #1 came home - I thought maybe HE took it wrong. So, although I was annoyed, I didnt think much about it until son #2, 4 years later, came home - REALLY upset. REEEEEAAAALLLLLY upset. I was an addict, who was soon to die - like any second.... as was his dad, his grandfather & grandmother (my ex, IL's). And HIS (my son's) chances for survival, living in a home with smokers?!?!? Oh - his days were numbered too. I mean... he was 8 at the time. He took it to heart.

And what do you do? Call the school and tell them you dont want them teaching them that smoking is bad? I was kinda - at a loss - as for what to do. :confused3

And there was a South Park episode - cant recall which one, but it was about smoking marijuana - and to condense it down, it was if you lie to kids, and tell them if they smoke marijuana once, they'll be hooked and within days they'll be crack-addicts - and they realize "Gee, that isnt the truth" , then they might not believe ANY of the drug schooling they do - which could turn out REALLY BAD.

Long story- short: Dont exaggerate.

CathrynRose--That's crazy they say its the same...I remember them saying it was a gateway, but not the same. That's kind of crazy.

I'm glad you don't smoke in front of the kids anymore. I can't stand cigarette smoke (makes me nausious) plus the negative health studies of second-hand smoke. I'm totally understandable if a parent wants to smoke and it only affects themselves, but what gets me is when I see a parent leave the daycare with a 6 month-old baby, windows rolled up and smoking.

Anyway, lets stop talking about this before it gets ugly. I have a new question for everyone. How young is too young to take a baby to Disney? I'm not pregnant or anything, just trying to plan my Disney trips for the next several years. :)

I took my kids for the first time in 2004 when they were 2 and 4. Given the opportunity, I would have probably taken them younger and don't think there is any age too young for Disney :thumbsup2 It was still so wonderful to see their little faces light up with excitement, especially my 4 year olds when she first saw Minnie. I will never forget it. I think their early exposure to Disney has made them into the park commandos that they are today!!! :teeth:

Denise

I took Danny when he was 4 months old - to DisneyLAND.

Of course he doesnt remember it, or anything - but Im telling you, taking a baby was a heckuva lot easier then taking...even a 15 y/o!!!! ;)

And the character photo's and video I have?!?!? So cute!!! :cloud9: They really seemed to dig babies!!!

On that same trip was when the verdict was coming back for OJ Simpson. My ex-hubby had a walkman on, to hear the news. It was pretty funny when Chip/Dale (dont remember) walked up to my ex, pointed to his ears, then kinda put his hands up in the air, like: Well?!?!

My ex had a TON of people asking him, "Well?" but Chip/Dale still makes me laugh... :teeth:

I took DD and Ds both when they were 9months old and everything was GREAT! i would've done it as young as 6 months i think. Aytime before that i was still a nervous wreck :teeth:

MRFDNY

:wave2: WOW! what a post! i think you should do what's in your heart! really. When you REALLY feel that urge, you will go with the flow. NYC will always be your home, no matter where you go. I think everyone out there has a dream job and when THE RIGHT one comes along, nothing will hold you back. :teeth: I can't wait for DH to get THE RIGHT position down in FL, but then again, if something that was perfect came up in Wyoming...well i don't know that we would take it :teeth: it's all about what is right for you and the fam!!

 you will know when it's time!! ::yes::

HUMP DAY!!! so how is everyone so far this week? For me the week seems to be going by too slow and super fast at the same time!! is that possible?? we had mommy and me this morning and last night all of us went to the library for story time and craft hour! Tonite Cliff CLaven from Cheers (soo can't spell his last name John Ratzenberg?? or something like that!!) Is at our local Barnes & Noble!! so we're heading there and Friday B&N is having Trick or Treat with Maisy, so we will be there too :faint:

--------

I have to agree with BethC DCL is THE GREATEST cruising ever! we've done it 3 times ourselves (3 for me and only 1 for DH) and we cannot wait to go again!! we too are biased, but we love it!!

I have a quick question does anyone know if I can still get a DIS t-shirt from anywhere?!\

SSomeone has a DIS STUFF FOR SALE thing in their siggie!!!

I think it's over on the Dancing wiht the Stars season 3 thread, but i'm not positive!! sorry i can't be of more help!! you can try and start a thread on the CB and somoene should answer right away!!

Mr FDNY- tough choice. If you move and hate it you can always go back to NY. I love NY but I don't have the desire to live there unless I was a millionaire. When we visit friends there and hear about how they are paying the same amount as our morgage to rent a tiny apartment in a terrible neighborhood it makes me feel bad. Yeah they live in NY but can't even afford to do the cool things in NY. That's my opinion. But it's what YOUR heart tells you. :)

Hi all.
So these past few days have been NUTS!
I started typing a message last night to you all and I look over and my cat is kind of sniffing something on the ground. Well I didn't have my glasses on and it looked like a hair ball. So I get up and it is a MOUSE! Ok, let me tell you that I do not do rodents, reptiles, etc, etc. I shreeked! Ryan came running in and he thought I was being attacked by a robber. (he's so funny). Well I shoo the cat out and run outside. I tell Ryan he has to get it. So I hand him the dust pan and he tells me that the handle is too short. So I go outside and get a shovel. He comes in and then a few minutes later comes out and says "Mom, I think it is alive." I am like No way, it's dead go get it PLEASE! Well he tries again but this time the mouse runs off of the shovel. I am almost in tears because it creeps me out to NO END and it makes me feel very dirty. (I keep a pretty clean house). So we are in our PJ's, we get in the car and go to Wally World to buy traps. Come back and set the traps and stay on the couch for the next hour watching cartoons. All day today I have stayed out of this room because I am scared. :sad2: The mouse is not in either trap. Ryan and his friend searched the office and it is nowhere to be found. Is it possible it died? Like went under the bookcase or something and dies? (I do not think it was full health because it layed on the floor for a long time). I am all wigged out. Blech. My kitty is in the room with me and she is not looking for it, which makes me think it might be dead. I don't know, but this is gross. Good side is, because I was too scared to come in the office I could not DIS which means my house is **** and span! 6 hours of deep cleaning and it looks awesome!
Ok, so that is a long story, sorry. I think I will copy and paste my post from last night now...

(from yesterday!)
Hi everyone
I spent the day with a good friend of mine. Actually I have known her since we were in 4th grade. Of course we each moved a lot and lost touch. Last year our son's were in the 2nd grade together and we never really knew it. Then this year they are on the same football team and we rekindled our friendship. It is a BLAST!
The thread in question was one about in-home daycare providers who smoke. The poster asked about if she should place her kid in a home where the day care provider smoked outside. Of course there were varied opinions but MANY people were very rude towards smokers. So of course I have to pipe up. I said in a nutshell that maybe instead of worrying about if they smoked or not the best situation would be to stay home with your kids and then you know for sure how they are being taken care of. I then said something to the effect of everyone has to make a choice for themselves and what is best for their family and that to follow your instincts. Well boy oh boy did I get flamed. It got nasty. Which I find too stinking funny because everything I said was calm, to the point, etc. Of course, me being me, I do not just let it go. I will not be called out by a bunch of strangers in an internet forum. I also think it is a trip when they will quote only one statement you made and then spin it to fit their own needs. I just have to laugh and shake my head at people like that. I always imagine them being a peach of a person to be around in real life! ;) Drama, drama everywhere. Mostly I just find it amusing and I always get a good laugh out of people who are ignorant. :rotfl2:

So on to happier news. Parent teacher conferences went well. Got test results back for Ryan from the end of last year. He did very well. I was VERY pleased. And now I KNOW he is a capable student and this "I can't do it!" act won't cut it! (I am such a mean Mom!) ;)

Michelle, that is SO cool you get to be gone so long. You will have a blast. I didn't know you could do a WDW then Cruise then back to WDW gig. THAT would be ideal! I have never cruised before, but it is something I look forward to someday!

(k, that's as far as I got before the killer mouse came out to get me! :rotfl: )

Hey Tia,
Not to worry there are always some threads on this board that seem to go to far, I love the ones where the op ask for opinions and once you give your own you'll get flammed by everyone including the op. also there are alot of trouble makers here that will on purpose post a very conterversal idea or question and just sit back and watch the fireworks. Most recently was the dumpster diving thread , but i seen threads about reusing old mugs/pool hopping/7 in a room and a lot of other things, jst to stir up the pot. Remember its alot easier for some posters to be much more confertational or "tuff" behind a computer screen where they know they are protectied in thier own house ,then in real life and others are just looking for a good arguement. Believe it or not i even got dragged into one about 3 years ago, when Someone asked a A questions reguarding political views and it went downhill from there. Someone else actually PMed me about the thread because someone made a not so nice comment reguarding Sept 11 and some of the people that were killed in nyc, actually it was a disgustion comment about the towers and those lost. Basiclly i threw in my 2 cents and was really nice and respectful and then the next 4 or 5 post was all about flamming me. Then There were some really mean comments about the towers and stuff, anyway thats a story which the chapter has been closed. Remeber someone will always disagree(get it, dis-a gree :teeth: ) will your views or something you say ,if your nice, respectful and polite then you win and sometimes that person/poster will turn into a friend in the future. This is just my 2 cents, :) :wave2:

TIA HOW DARE YOU!!!! I think i just read that you and your son tried to kill mickey ,say it ain't so, say it ain't so. :teeth: I called disney police and have requested that mickey be put on 24 hour protection. :teeth: :rotfl: Ok actually i'm thinking that if your cat is not "hunting it" anymore that maybe your mickey went to that disney world in the sky. I would imagine that if it were still alive your cat would be hunting it still. It is possible that your mickey also escaped outside, when you say you got traps, what kind??? Use extreme caution with poisions, cause they are made to taste great and sometimes the loved pet ends up eating the poision as well. Watch your cat he will alert you if mr mouse is still around by the way your cat acts.Good luck hunting!! :teeth:

Mo'Nin All!!! :sunny:

Im not scared of mice - I could'a saved you. Im not scared of any rodent, spiders, anything most people are scared of - but you wanna get me to scream like a little girl and run (and I NEVER run, ever, ever, ever)??

Bee's. Bee, Wasp, Yellow Jacket - any of those things will raise my blood pressure in .00005 seconds flat. Im TERRIFIED OF THEM!!! :guilty:

Im sorry you were so scared though - I know when there's been a bee in my house, Ive stayed in the bathroom - FOR 2 HOURS until someone got home. :rolleyes1 Why I didnt run into a room that I could actually do something in, like my bedroom and watch TV, I will never know. :rotfl:

Oh - and ghosts. You know those Ghost stories on TLC - and the family eventually moves...but initially tried to stay? (insert F word in all caps) THAT!!!! I'd be gone THAT night. An unseen spirit scratching up my back and making me bleed??? Im gonna wait it out?!? I. Dont. Think. So.

I'd be gone so quick a cloud of smoke would trail behind me.... :moped:

I think if it died, a little mouse or not, ya would have smelled it. I live in the burbs and had a couple of baby rats come into my garage help themselves to the rat poison I had in a cardboard box up on shelf in DH's tool/work room and die on my garage floor. They were not there long at all, but they stunk to high heaven!!! I felt like a CSI trying to figure out what happened to the little critters until I discovered a chewed hole in the bottom of the card board box. How handy is that?? Rats that poison themselves!!!! :thumbsup2 I didn't even have to break a sweat! :teeth:

Now I HATE HATE HATE Cockroaches, Waterbugs, anything like that. In the South it seems they can get as big as your head!!!! :scared1: When it gets dry out, they like to come in your house!!!! :faint: Last night one came up the sink pipe into the bathroom and it was HUGE. Unfortunately the kids were taking a bath at the time and saw the bugger. I had left the bathroom briefly to break up a cat fight on my porch and that is when it appeared, and then and I heard these blood curdling screams. I almost killed myself tripping my way to the bathroom to see what the heck happened!!! Scared me to death!! DH was already there with a shoe taking care of business!!! SHEESH!! Ugly!

And then there is the 4 foot snake skin hanging out in my shed......GEEZ! I am not even going to go there! :rolleyes1

Well hello all! I have just read back about 5 or so pages... my, I have missed alot! I have been trying to edit the over 400 digital pics I took on shutterfly. I love their editing software! They even have "thinning" and "teeth whitening" who could ask for more???? Too bad I forgot to buy photo albums!!!! Actually, I was going to buy the cinderellabration ones that were on sale, but figured I could pick them up at the airport shop... well, they didn't have any.... so, I figured I would just ebay them... well, the album that was 12.99 they are asking close to forty bucks for! I can't bring myself to spend that, knowing that I could have had it for thirteen!

Ok, so, let me catch up:

I have the DIS lady's email address that sells the DIS shirts. The store has been closed, but there is some product left. actually, I just emailed her this morning to see if they have T's left in our sizes.

Mr. FDNY: I'm sure you will come to the right decision for your family...what does your wife think? about the possibility of moving... not the pam anderson thing... I'm sure she would have a few choice words for that!

How young is too young? Well, mine have been twice a year each year. Once in January and once in September.... one was born in Sept (29th), so she went when she was 3.5 months, and the other was born in May (26th), so he was almost 4 months. They are priceless at that age! They are SOOO easy to fly with... they just sleep! They are awesome to do the parks with, especially if you are traveling with another adult(s) because they are easy to care for if you go on a ride and leave them with the other person. I just can't say enough about our trips when they were that young. With my daughter... it was the first time we didn't do Disney commando style. It was WONDERFUL to know we could slow down and enjoy. PM me for more, I could go on forever about how great the trips were when they were young... and couldn't talk!!!!!

The Breakup the movie - friend rented it on Friday. None of us liked it. I don't see many movies, so it was a treat to see one so "recent" (for me) but it wasn't good.

The mouse: if it died, you will soon smell it. I haven't had mice, but my parents moved out to "the country" as I call it, and they had a dead one, boy did it REAK! They do not have a cat though. I bet your cat took it away and you are fine.

Ok, so I hope that I caught up! Talk to you all soon!!!!!

Yeah! Posting JUST to be number 5000!

Dorothy Kurtz, or something like that? I may have told the DISers at the Hippy Dippy pool that Wednesday, but...
I was wearing one of the DIS shirts I bought from her, all that day at Epcot. Zipping around World Showcase between United States and Germany, a woman approached me and said, "I like your shirt. I made it" No, not Dorothy - Linda. Anyway, she was embarassed by my request but... she DID autograph my shirt! :teeth:
