Popeyes blackened chicken sandwich

I saw this when I checked the Popeye’s app to see if the $5 big box is still a thing (it’s not). However, they now have the blackened chicken (plus a spicy version) sandwich. I had to try it and this is the best fast food chicken sandwich I’ve ever had. I didn’t even know that blackened chicken existed. I though it was something done for catfish.

So you made me want to get one of these for lunch - I agree that it is delicious. I got the spicy one, and unlike most fast-food items that they call spicy, it actually had some kick! Thanks for the tip!

I don’t like condiments, so seeing all that mayo or whatever they put on it makes me want to gag. On their mobile ordering, the only thing you can remove is the pickles, so I think I will stick with Chick Fil A. If I could get just the chicken and pickles, I would give the spicy variety a try.

You didn't know blackened chicken existed? I'm sorry for that. It's so good. My mom has been making it since I was a kid. Not a seafood fan...

You can buy blackening seasoning in the spice aisle. I always have a jar of it. It makes your smoke alarm go off when you do it properly. I'd argue this photo does NOT show a blackened chicken breast. It should literally be black, partially at least. Still looks good though.

Sure - you wouldn't be able to do an online or app order with any special requests other than to take out the pickle slices. However, I'm sure that it's possible to order at the counter and then ask specifically for the sauce to be left out. Even when I ordered online or via their app, I haven't seen the order ready when I got there. They usually waited until I got there to prepare it. Makes sense since they tend to get soggy if left too long in the wrapper.

Here's the Canadian version. I've seen various photos and there are all sorts of shades depending on how long they were cooked.
