Which hotels do they stay at? I want to avoid them at all cost after some of the stories I've heard!:scared:

Come on over to EPCOT resorts - we barely notice they have arrived.

We DID spend one evening at POR (dinner ang Bob) and there was a Welcome sign out front so they must populate some of the Moderates as well.

Hi:

We were there last December while Pop Warner was there... We stayed at AKL & WL for 9 days and rarely saw anywhere, including at the parks. When we saw them at the parks they were all well behaved. I can't comment on how it was at the value and moderate parks... other can and probably will.

Have a Great Trip,

Mark

I believe the kids start arriving on Dec 6 for the following week.
THey also stay at AllStar Sports and Music if I'm not mistaken. We were at Music back in '03, and the kids were staying there. They were never an issue for us...we must have lucked out and gotten the polite kids.

These kids have worked very hard to get to the national competions. For the most part they are either going to be practicing or in competition itself. If you have a problem with a particular group of cheerleaders speak to their chaperones or head coach. I think I would worry more about some of the school bands or youth groups than the cheerleaders. They girls on the team our town sent were all told if they were a behavior problem that they would not be able to participate on a team next year. That includes not trying out for the high school team for the eigth graders. You cannot however expect large groups of teenagers to be quiet for extended periods of time. IMHO I think that those who do are being a little unrealistic. I hope that I have not offended anyone with my post. If you are really intent on avoiding them the competition is usually held around the 8-111 of December. If you want exact dates call your local rec deptartment, but I dont't think that they have posted the dates yet for 2008.

From what I have been reading they stay at All Star Sports/Music and POR. We will be going (during POP) and staying at POR and I am not going to let all the negative comments get to me. We decided not to plan our vacation around POP. We chose POR and we are going to stick with it. We will have a great time no matter what. Hopefully our stay will be wonderful. Hope this helps;)

Pop Warner is scheduled to be there this year from 12/7 - 12/13... You can verify this from their website. Plan on some arriving a few days early.

Last year while reading the boards I became overly concerned about what it would be like... well to be quite honest, from our Grand Gathering perspective it turned out to be a NON-ISSUE... with one possible exception... it may have kept the crowd levels down in the parks during the daytime. We had no waits over 5 minutes except from Soarin and EE and we Fast Pass them.

This year we are going the week before they arrive... I sort of wished we were going the same week based on our last year experience.

Have a Great Time,

Mark

I was initially thinking about staying at POP, but do they handle the overflow for Pop Warner? Or does they go to POR? I'm thinking it might be best to not alter my travel dates, but just to stay somewhere else.

I understand that for the most part the teens that are there just want to have a good time. But with my luck, I'd be stuck in a hotel where something like last year happens (teams fighting get kicked out of AS resort). My DD will also be 2 at that time, and I won't be a happy camper if she wakes up to people shouting in the middle of the night:mad:.

Hi JaxJags08:

I think POP & POR are spillover resorts. You might want to consider the other moderate resorts if your budget allows for it...

I would also suggest calling WDW and ask for guest services. I bet they will be able to confirm which resorts they stay at.

Have fun,

Mark

we were there last year at allstar sports, and the resort was full of teens. We asked for a quiet room and got one. The grounds were lively with kids and litter was strewed over the grounds ( I think the employees we hard pressed to keep up with the kids). That said, it wasn't that bad. If you go, ask politely for a quiet room away from the action.

It is a youth football tournament. A bunch of youth football players and cheerleaders descend on WDW from around the country. Since you're at the Poly, you shouldn't be notice a difference. It seems that they mostly stay in the value resorts and POR. The group is busy during the day with football, so I don't think there's much affect on park crowds. However, I think they rent out HS 1 night so it may close early that day.

I was thinking of staying at POP during that time. But with a 2 yr old, and a love for sleep myself, I am thinking twice.

Two years ago, we stayed at WL during Pop Warner week and we never saw them, except a few at MGM one night. Last year we went the next week and the crowds were a little more busy. So, we are going back again this year during Pop Warner and we are staying at POFQ and we aren't worried about it at all. I rather deal iwth Pop crowds than the next week crowds.

Check the other threads from December 07/January 08 and you will see everyone's experiences from Pop Warner this year including Disney having to eject one teams entire team and family members due to issues that occurred at one of the AllStars in violation of Pop Warner's rules to attend this championship. It also made the local TV news and newspapers here in Florida. You can also go to Pop Warner's website and see exactly which resorts have been chosen as part of their package. When we've been there the overflow from the AllStars has been to POR & POFQ.

When we've been at the resorts, we've had no trouble with band groups or other school groups. Our biggest headache was at POR during cheerleading championships where they cheered anywhere there was a square inch of land available including the shops, the food court, the bars, the busses and the boat to DTD. It didn't make a magical experience at the resort as the chaperones pretty much turned a deaf ear to the whole thing. We didn't have any issues at the parks though since during the day they were at their competitions. That's one of the reasons now that I try to see what competitions are going on before we book at room at WDW - these boards are a great source of information!! :thanks: to the DisBoards!!
