I have never stayed at PC and this winter my inlaws are joining us for a fun filled week, I just noticed that it is the same week Pop Warner kids are there. What is the impact? How bad does it get? We have 1 child, 7 yrs old with us. 2 Grumpy old men I don't want to give them any ammo to complain. Thoughts? We are staying value as this is the only way they will go.

We stayed at POP during Pop Warner last year. It really didn't seem bad to me, and I kind of went into it looking for the bad because I had heard so much about Pop Warner week. The food court didn't seem any more crowded than past trips to POP, and the noise level at POP didn't seem different either. We were happily surprised!

We also stayed at POP last year during Pop Warner and had no issues at the resort. If they keep it the same as in the past the groups themselves stay at All-Stars or POR. It may make POP a little more full since other values are handling the Pop Warners but we didn't find POP overly crowded last year. At the parks we had no bad experiences, in fact hardly saw the groups but others have posted about loud groups so you can never tell. Personally I don't think it is as bad as it's reputation.

Pop Warner stays at All star resorts POR and off property as a general rule. This is how it has been for the past five years.

The resorts that they have used in the past few years have been the Allstar Sports with the overflow to Allstar Music. The moderate resort is the Port Orleans Riverside with the overflow to the Port Orleans French Quarter.
The POP since they will have more availability to the general public wanting to stay in a value. But you will not run into the POP Warner participants at the POP Century.
If you are staying between 12/2-12/8 you will run into the participants in the parks, but I have never had any major problems with them in the parks as they tend to go in smaller groups.
They do have an event in MGM on Friday, 12/7, I would avoid MGM that afternoon as I would suspect that that will be the park they will concentrate on that day

Pop is not one of the resorts used by conventions or sports.

that say parents or children who are familiar with Disney know that Pop Century is the closest to the WWoS and will stay there - even at full price. So they can walk over. (which they also aren't surpose to do but do anyway)

I wouldn't let them stop me from enjoying Pop.

Since those kids are NOT surpose to be there. Just call security or front desk if they start cheering outside your window early morning or late night. Now during the afternoon - they have to let them. but Pop will stop them at other times. the All stars will not.

but for all stars they are bread and butter - for Pop you are.

If you google pop warner disneyworld reservations you should see their 2006 advisors manual. They actually admit in it (on page 11) that they have had "serious behavior problems at Walt Disney World" in the past.

does that mean they are going to stop it now?

Me being a prt of Pop Warner did not have any BAD expierences. We stayed at ASMo last Dec. during Pop Warner week and had no problems. Espically during the day because they are all at the cheer competition or playing football. That to me was the best time to go to the parks. Yes on Friday they did close MGM at 6pm to host a Pop Warner nite party. You may have some issues, but I have had more problems in the summer with the countries coming as groups being led by thier guide. Talk about rude, nastey, etc. Those were worse then Pop Warner week.

It is generally quite busy but the kids are hardly the problem it is generally their parents once they start sitting around the pool drinking. In all our Dec trips staying at the All Star Resorts we have only seen one issue with the kids and they got tossed off the bus it has mostly been the parents getting rude and obnoxious to one another about their kids football and cheerleading teams.

We hit wall-to-wall people at MK one weekday during Pop Warner, which is otherwise unusual in early December. We ended up leaving MK that day. The rest of the parks were empty that week.

We probably won't go back during that time; this year, our December trip is planned for the second week, after Pop Warner madness ends!

We were at POP during the last few days of POP Warner week in 2004 - when I found out they would be there at the same time I called CRO who connected me to guest services and tried to help me switch resorts, except POP Warner was at Allstars, POP, CBR and FQ - so that year they did indeed stay at other resorts. POP, CBR and FQ were all over flow -

I figured we would switch to CBR preferred room since the resort is so spread out, but POP Warner would all be in the preferred area, so we went ahead and stayed at POP.

The kids were all over the 50's section, but really, for so many teens not bad at all. Friday was a celebratory night for them so we did hear them a bit that night, but otherwise they were not any different than other guests at POP. We were glad to be on the Lake side rather than pool because the kids did stay in the pool late.

It was nice to see them enjoying themselves and all in all were very well behaved. Saturday morning they were out bright and very early and the place seemed downright deserted!

Not sure I would want to spend an entire week in the same section, but if you request a different section I think it will be fine :)

You can call Disney to find out which resorts they will be in this year - it may take some insistance when you ask, but ask for guest services (be prepared they are not always the nicest CM's for some reason - maybe they get cranky callers all day!)...anyway, you can find out and then be sure to request a room away from the group...a lake view room in the 70's would be a nice view and if the kids are in the 50's you'd be a good ways away.

Am thinking you'll have a great time! Oh, and other than Friday at MGM we barely ran into them at the parks. They are busy doing their stuff! :)

I have heard that they stay at Pop as well as all the all stars too. I am glad I read this. I was debating on going to WDW on Dec 7 or 9th and I think I will go the 9th instead. Then miss them completely for the most part. Does anyone know if anything else big is going on that second week of Dec.

I have been at WDW 3X during Pop Warner, and each time I have been in a value resort, including Sports. I have not had any problems, and I'm not exactly "child friendly."
Specifically at Pop, I would request a room with a view of the lake, and 4th floor. That will minimize noise and less disturb your grumpy old men--no matter what else is going on at the resort.

we stayed at pop and allstars in pop week..no trouble..lots of kids around,,,the pool is packed and food court but we donnt eat on disney ground much..we couldnt get a chair at the pool they put towels on them to save them and then go for food..i just throw them on the ground and take one ..they didnt come back to the chairs for over an hour,,by then most of the chairs were given out by lifrguards,,
