Hi, this will be our first trip during Christmas and I'm/we're pretty use to dealing with Easter crowds. Now we've been to WDW during the Fourth of July plenty of times, but that is a very crowded time of year. So, are the Pop Warner crowds as big as the Fourth of July or Easter?

Thanks in advance for any information :thumbsup2

no the crowds are not a problem.

the girls cheering at your resort at midnight is the problem.

at the bus stop, on the buses, in the lines at the park, at food courts -you name it - these girls think they have the right to cheer at any and all times.

they have been to know to scare people and laugh about it.

not nice, so try to avoid if possible.

As long as you avoid MK on the weekends you should be fine. Depending on when you are going you may also be there for the taping of the Christmas Parade which is another good reason to avoid MK on the weekends (although some people dispute this).

My DH and I were on our honeymoon during Pop Warner last year and didn't encounter any of the participants until Thursday. (I'm guessing that they were all in competition until then.) Although none were staying at our resort, CSR, there were hoards of them in the MK. There would be groups of about 12 or 14 of them, holding hands in a long line, and threading themselves through the crowd down Main Street. I don't think DH and I walked side-by-side the whole time. And the incessant cheering...oh the cheering...

By the way, I don't mean to be disparaging to cheerleaders. I am sure that Pop Warner is a great program and does much for the girls. I'm just reporting what we encountered. Part of me thinks they should have a hard ticket event one night where it's just the PW crowd in the MK.

We went during that week last year and it was fine. The parks were busy, even during the week, but nothing like Easter or summer time. We only ran into Cheerleaders when we were eating at DTD or at dinner at the resort. We never saw them in the parks. We stayed at Port Orleans. We did see them around the resort. They would be in small groups with a couple of adults. I never noticed them being loud. I noticed them because they were dressed alike and had big hairbows. Believe me, I have a 2 and 3 year old so I would notice if they were loud because I worry my own are too loud. I am not saying they are not loud at value resorts. I don't know but I think that is where most of them stay. The ones at Port Orleans were behaved and in a small group.

you don't know how lucky you were.

I have heard stayed in the same place - well I did once - Pop - but a call to the front desk ended the cheering outside my room.

did find them at the MK - cheering, and at DtD -

yes part of the problem is that they go around in packs WITHOUT adults - or anyone I would consider an adult. Sorry in my book you got to be able to control the teens to be an adult.

We stayed at the Boardwalk in 2005 while Pop Warner was going on and didn't see any packs of teens at the resort.

As for the parks we tended to leave before dinner and we had no problems during the day --- no long waits --- no cheering teens. I think they may close MGM (or what was formerly MGM) for one evening so that the Pop Warner group have access to the park.

From what I've heard they're more of a problem at the resorts they stay at than at the parks. Based on our experience it was a wonderful time of the year to visit. The weather was great, the crowds were not too bad, and they had all the holiday decorations and celebrations going on.

I think my parents vacationed once when they were there, and they weren't too bad at the resort (it was probably a moderate).

Their problem was when they were all delayed on the outbound flight at the airport...that's when the girls got loud.

Thanks a bunch :thumbsup2 As long as the parks are not as crowded as Easter and/or Fourth of July, I can deal with the groups of cheering teens :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: . Pop Warner is very big in my town and my only concern is the crowds, lines, etc...

Thanks again ;)

We have gone before, stayed at All-StarsMo and most stay only on the 3/4 day packages at PORiverside that they are offered. These can be expensive compared to making your own ressies as I have done. We tend to stay the entire week, but I never had any bad luck dealing with the cheerleaders/players. They are in competition or playing during the day, so this is when we go to the park/s. They are empty and we can get on the rides multiple times w/o a hitch. I am involved with PW.

then you should love this time.

since lots of people avoid it because of Pop-warner. as had been say the girls are in competition during the days - and I think one night?

so the parks are pretty nice. except as pointed out the weekend at MK - they are taping the christmas show - avoid it. especially (but I think it is sold out already) the MVMCP that weekend.

I booked All star sports the weekend of dec. 6 -9 without knowing it was POP Warner and have been trying for months to change it with no luck, however the Disney magic has finally kicked in :wizard: and I was able to change to a moderate today. I am jumping for joy. I know there is still a chance some of them might end up at Port Orleans Riverside, but I'm guessing nowhere near what it would have been at sports. Just had to share my bliss.:cool1:  NO midnight :cheer2: for me!!!!

Good luck having peace & quiet at POR. We stayed there during PW one year & the girls were cheering everywhere.........especially in the grass in front of the mansions on the waterfront. They were everywhere......in the bar with the piano player........in the shops in big packs..........in the food court...........in the boats to DTD................cheering everywhere!!! I think the only time they might have quieted down a little was in the food court when they were actually eating. Don't get me wrong, my DD was a baton twirler & we stayed everywhere over the US & I know we drove people nuts twirling on every flat surface they could find, but at least they were quiet!! :rolleyes1

I've read so many bad things about this, that I changed my first 2 day stay (November 30-December 2nd) at ASSp to the Omni Championsgate. I was really concerned about what I was hearing regarding Pop Warner on these boards. Even though the event doesn't look like it officially starts until December 2nd, I'm sure some people will come in early for the weekend. I could only get the AP rate of $71 (preferred) at ASSp anyway because nothing else was available at the other values. Two days ago I got a code from Travelzoo to get the Omni for $99 a night. I checked out the reviews on Tripadvisor and finally decided that for a little more I'd rather have the peace and quiet and luxury of the Omni. I signed up for their loyalty program, and I'm supposed to get free wi-fi, evening turndown service, a newspaper everything day, and coffee and juice delivered to me in the morning. I have a rental car, so staying off-site doesn't bother me. The property looks just beautiful, so I'm sure I'll be happy. I did keep my second stay at ASSp for December 7th - 11th because I got an AP rate of $49 a night and the $20 dining card. I might have a night of two of the chearleaders, but at least I won't be subjected to them my whole stay!

hate to be the bearer of bad news but the moderate resorts that the POP Warner group has are the POR and the POFQ. So they will be there with you.

I heard they were at POR more than POFQ. ANyone heard the same??

I know in the past the resort choice was the POR with the over-flow to the POFQ. But, this year they are able to chose either resort.

Oh well. We are only there for 5 days then it's off to GF! I'm going to hope for the best. :thumbsup2
