Does anyone know when Pop Warner will begin and end for 2007?? We want to avoid going that week after all of the stories we've heard about crowds and behavior of the kids this year and are trying to plan to arrive after they're checked out. Any info. would be greatly appreciated so we can get our room booked!! Thanks!! :goodvibes

I don't know if the dates have been announced yet but my guess is somewhere in the vicinity of December 2-8, 2007.

(edited to correct the year)

figures - December 2 = my birthday!! ahhh!! wish i could change my birthday!! hahaha

Seems like the first week of December is the week to avoid.

If only they were there in 1997, it wouldn't be a problem for NEXT December! ;)

depends on the hotel your staying to avoid Pop Warner. And I have to say I was there for Pop Warner and didn't have any problems or did I see anything that was wrong. Your going to Disney do you not think that there are going to be alot of kids??? the first week is usually the week it is.

we're planning to stay at coronado springs. i know lots of kids go to disney, we were just there this past september, however, the crowds were VERY minimal and again, it wasn't Pop Warner week where i've heard MANY on the boards complain about the kids that attend this and their rude behavior, disrespectful manners, chanting and/or screaming cheers and being disruptful to others at the parks. While I realize it's not all of the kids that attend the Pop Warner event, just 1 group of kids screaming cheers and whatever else while waiting in lines, on the bus or on the rides themselves is quite annoying and not something we want to have to deal with or have ruin our vacation. Disney is Disney - there are lots of people who visit - during Pop Warner, however, is not a time we care to visit and just want to avoid that week. So we'll plan the trip for the 2nd week of December instead. Thanks everyone!! :goodvibes

We have been going to WDW in the first week of December for most of the past 9 years, and even stayed at All-Star Music in 1997. Through most of these visits we have not seen much to complain about from the Pop Warner kids. A few loud cheerleading groups, some running in the parks, but overall not a lot of problems. We have seen as many problems from kids not in Pop Warner.

This year we were at WDW from 03-07 December and saw little of the Pop Warner group until Thursday, when we went to MK knowing it would be busy.

We would not base our decision on going to WDW on their presence, although we probably not want to be at WDW for the last few days of their meet, as more of the teams would be in the parks then and it would be that much busier.

We understand many people were bothered by some of the PW teams and it would be a good idea for WDW to get a little more strict with the large groups they host, to avoid annoying other guests. Maybe WDW can assign CMs to monitor the activities of the groups, one CM to each xx number of kids. It seems like a small cost to insure everyone has a good time and to keep a very small minority from giving a bad name to the whole PW group.

we were there dec 3-8 this year and i didn't even notice any pop warner kids. just stay away from value resorts where they most likley get the good deals. the parks though more crowded then usual were fine and easily manageable

Where'd they stay this year? I didn't see any at POP. Didn't even notice them in the parks until Thursday.

I stayed at CBR and SS and didn't see any of them there but when we went to POR they were all there! Things were fine til lunchtime at the food court and there were several kids being rude waiting in line for their food (not helped by their mom who was also complaining and saying she would never return to POR!) Shame that a few make things miserable for the rest of us!

coronado springs: i was just there, didn't see any pop warner. however on monday i think it was, Scholastic Chess competition kids came. they were fine, saw no problems with any of them at the resort. the coronado was great!

They generally stay at the All Star Sports with overflow to the All Star Music and the moderate they stay in is the POR with overflow to the POFQ

The teams are playing or competing from the friday before to the following friday. Summer in Disney is just as busy if not worse so you really can't expect disney to control people or kids. They are there because they won and are the best in there state they deserve to be happy not be disrespetful but be proud and that may mean chanting a cheer here and there.

And being at Disneyworld is not enough to make them happy ? Some guests have worked hard and saved their money for months or years so they could go to Disney, what about them? Do they not deserve to enjoy Disney without having to listen to stupid cheers all day and night?

I have heard that the cheerleading competitions are also held in February and March. We will be there from March 3-17, 2007, and I'm wondering if we will encounter this at WDW during that time? Does anyone know?

Thanks very much,
MouseGirl

Mousegirl,

There is a cheerleading competitition at the Orlando Convention Center (NOT on WDW property) the weekend of March 9. I would not worry about cheerleaders at WDW during this time. Competition is both Saturday and Sunday, so you don't have to worry about additional crowds, etc. at all. And most teams are staying offsite. This is an AllStar cheerleadings competition and these cheerleaders are used to travel several times a season.

Don't know about any onsite cheering competitions, but you can maybe do a google search on cheering competitions in Orlando.

Have a great trip.
