Pop walking distance?

Hey!

I was just wondering if anyone who has stayed at POP Century walks to MGM or Epcot? How much time do you think this would take? I am a really quick walker, and would do anything to avoid waiting/riding the bus!

Hollywood Studios is literally right around the corner from POP! but there's no pathway to walk on to get there, unless you don't mind walking on the side of the road.

It's not possible. There are no walking paths and no sidewalks, you'd have to walk along a multi-lane highway with busses and cars flying by you at 55+. Very dangerous, and if Disney security sees you, they'll pick you up.

It's also a lot farther than you think it is. On the map, it may look like the parks are very close, and as the crow flies, they may be a reasonable distance. Actually, though, you'd have to walk from your Pop building through the whole resort complex, down the access road, out to the main highway, down the access road to the theme park, and then across the biggest parking lot you've ever seen in your life. It'd be several miles, and would take a long, long time. Much better to hop on the nice air-conditioned bus and get there in a few minutes.

With very few exceptions, Disney World is not built for walking. That's why they have the extensive transportation system that they do.

We are staying at POP in Dec. during Pop Warner week, but not participating. I was wondering the same thing about walking to the WWoS where the cheerleading and football will be going on. I was willing to walk there as well, but I guess the best way to get there is by bus. I have to go to Hollywood Studio's and then get the transfer to WWoS. What time do the busses start running if we need to do it this way.

it requires a lot of walking - just ride the bus - promise you it is faster!

if you insist - turn right out of the Pop entrance - then walk quite a bit without a sidewalk - then at the traffic light - go across the road - on that side there is a sidewalk - go to BW - then go left to Studios or right to Epcot.

(but since you are so tired by then - might go on the boat)

If you want to walk, have your life insurance paid up and your will made. Buena Vista Drive is VERY busy. Lots of Disney buses who aren't really expecting people walking where there isn't a sidewalk. Plus, tourists driving who really don't know where they are going. I guess I'll be nice and leave out the Cast Members who like to speed along (joke).

Can you do it? Yes. Should you do it? No.

This comes from someone with little patience for a bus and would walk anywhere she could.

I just looked it up on "Google Earth", (which is very addictive, by the way),
and it seems like there isn't a direct route, and it is further than you would think. Lots of trees in the way.
