Hi all,
Last winter we (me, dh, dd16, dd5, dd7) stayed at pop and loved it. The kids seemed to like the colorful and energetic theming.

This time around we are bringing grandma and so POR looks like the best choice, but the theming seems a bit, well, boring. Those who have been to POR is it as subdued as it appears...not that subdued is bad, I just want the kids to feel that "Disney Magic".

thanks!

Anne

We, Dh, DS's 13 & 12 and I stayed at the POR last Thanksgiving. There is little to no Disney theme there. It is more like visiting a quiet little backwoods town. My family really enjoyed the resort but if you are looking for something Disney this pales in comparision to the Value resorts. In addition we found the walks to get to the food court and the buses were much longer if you got placed in one of the back buildings. Besides that the extra cost for the minimual size increase was not really worth it since we spend little time in the room except for sleeping and changing. So yes to finally answer your question POR is very subdude. :mickeybar

I have stayed twice at por with my sister and her dd and ds and we don't find it boring at all! They have a great pool slide, a nice playground, and don't underestimate the attraction of fishing! But then when we go back to the hotel we like a little less stimulation. Who knows, after my trip to pop in October, I may be singing a different tune!

We've stayed at both resorts, and personally we like Pop over POR. POR was nice, but the themeing just didn't get it done for us. We stayed on the AB side so maybe the mansions would've been better. We did have quite a bit of a walk from our room to the food court and main pool and our building was not one of the farthest. If you're looking for a moderate that would be easy for grandma I would consider POFQ. We love POFQ and it is a more compact moderate. Short walk to everything, has the boat to DTD, recently redone, first on the bus route. Themeing is great, but not quite like POP.

Port Orleans Riverside (Alligator Bayou, bldg 18 both times!) is WONDERFUL!!! The last time we stayed our DD's were 13, 11, 7 and 5. They LOVE it and can't wait to go back there!! It is NOT boring AT ALL!! The girls also LOVE the pool! My DH and I LOVE it, too!! We had no problems with the buses, the wait was never more than a few minutes (we waited longer for buses at WL!!??) The food court is wonderful! As you can see, we LOVE POR!!
