Pop up gizmos

For those of you with a pop up or TT with bunk ends, do you use pop up gizmos or other type of reflective bunk end covers? Next month's FW trip will be our first in hot weather and we're wondering how well they work and how much they're needed. We are also considering making reflectix inserts for the bunk end windows for shading.

The research I did suggests they were well made and work well in both hot and cold weather. I traded my pup before I ordered mine so I can't say for sure. Weather they are needed or not can depend on which site you get at the fort. Some have nice shade some don't. If you camp a lot and are keeping that camper I would recommend them. If nothing else it saves sun wear on your canvas.

Hello. The pop-up gizmos bunk end covers work well. I also cut reflectix panels to put in the bunk ends zippered between the canvas and screen walls. The bunk ends work well, but when combined with the reflectix panels makes a huge difference. We used them both on our Fleetwood 2006 sun valley pop up for years till we upgraded to a new travel trailer.

We have popup gizmos and have used them on just about every camping trip for 5 years. They are still like new. They make a big difference in the bunk temp and wouldn't go without them.

I used Reflectix to make a windshield cover for my RV. I put it inside the windshield, and used self adhesive velcro to hold it in place. It worked so well, I made covers for the rest of my windows.

I am sure it will be worth the cost and effort.

I bought a big roll of the Reflectix material at my local Lowes store.

We ended up making Reflectix covers for our bunks instead of buying the Popup Gizmos, just because it worked out to be a bit cheaper. Hopefully it works as well. We tried a bunch of ways to attach it and most involved a lot of binder clips, but didn't hold well. Finally broke down yesterday and bought tarp clips and now have the Reflectix bungeed in place. I'll leave it set up for a few days to make sure it holds. Here's a photo of the setup.

I have a bit of the Reflectix let, and we'll probably bring it with us to make any window panels we might need while there once we see where the sun hits everything.

Gizmos are really helpful at the Fort. I made my own with Reflectix, clear plastic painters tarp (usually sold as a giant roll in hardware stores), and two cheap tarps (mine were blue). I cut the plastic to the same dimensions as the tarp and then sewed the plastic onto the tarp to make a large pocket. I left one end open so I could slide the Relectix inside. The clear plastic allowed the Reflectix to actually reflect sunlight away from the camper and not just to provide insulation. I made a second one so I would have "gizmos" for both bunks and as they were a little larger than the top of the bunk, they hung over the edges creating additional shade. My portable AC was able to keep my PUP a comfortable temperature during our stay and the "gizmos", which greatly helped, fit nicely flat on the mattresses when I folded up the PUP to go home. One nice thing is that the tarps have eyelets so I can tie down my "gizmos" and I also used heavy duty document clips to help hold them in place on top of the bunks. One other advantage is that I can use them for tent camping as well.

We always used Reflectix with binder clips on the bunks ends with inserts in the windows on our popup. When we bought the hybrid, we bought the PopUp Gizmos but found they didn't come close to working as well as the Reflectix.

We cut new Reflectix bunk end covers for the hybrid and tossed the Gizmos in the garage to use as tarps
