POP to OKW - room assignment??

Hi all! I have a question about switching from POP to OKW...I know they will take our luggage no problem but what about our room assigment? We will leave POP early am, be at MGM all day and only arrive at OKW after Fantasmic or later (btw, this is all happening on a Sunday night at end of May). Will we be SOL on our first choice of room assignments because we will be checking in so late? Or will they assign the room when our luggage gets there? This would make more sense as I assume our luggage will be in room waiting for us. What time will that be? 4:00pm or later? AAAHHHH I know I am full of very specific questions but you all know how nutty this can get!! One final (?) - does the boat from OKW to DD (specifically Marketplace) begin around 9:00-9:30ish?? Its my understanding that this is when the Marketplace opens....

Depends on whether the resort is using Room Ready (rooms assigned at time of check-in) or preassigning rooms. More often than not they seem to be using Room Ready. Your room will not be assigned until you arrive at the front desk to check-in. The bags will wait in storage until you call Bell Services from your OKW room and ask to have them delivered.

My recommendation would be to have someone get an early start and head over the OKW to check-in. Unfortunately you'll probably have to switch busses at a theme park in order to reach OKW--there is no direct service between resorts. Or you could pay for a cab.

After you've completed the check-in process, just grab an OKW bus to MGM and meet up with the rest of your party.

Absolutely! Don't leave it up to chance! If you have a specific location in mind, or have requests you would be upset if they are not met, get over there and check in. Then you'll have your room keys and you can plunk down right after MGM.

Thanks for the info...What is earliest I can show up at OKW to get room assignment? Do I have to wait til 4:00 pm or later? How long do you estimate leaving MGM for OKW, checking in and then getting back to MGM? Is it true the bags will not be delivered til at least 4? Also the reservation is in my name but can my husband check us in? Should I just call OKW directly and stop bothering you guys?

You can check in as early as 7 am (maybe even earlier). If this were me, I'd go check in before MGM.

If you want your husband to check you all in, just call MS and add his name to the reservation.

I don't know how soon your bags will arrive - but they will not deliver them to you until you are in your room and give them a call.

If some detail about your room (location, smoking vs. non, HA vs. non-HA, 1st floor vs. upper floors, view) is crucial for you, then I would recommend that you have someone go to OKW early, check in, and meet up with your group at MGM.

If you check in very late in the day, chances are you will get the leftovers, and depending on your needs and wants, that might not make you happy.

Definitely head over early before you go to the parks. As stated, they will NOT bring your bags to the room until you check in, and if you check in that late, you will probably get left overs.
