I'm thinking of staying at the Pop next May. Is it a good choice for a solo adult? It looks like a fun hotel that would appeal to children so I am a little worried that I would feel out of place. So I am looking for some advice. If you were to stay at the Pop alone what building would you recommend? Or would you upgrade to a moderate that at least have a lounge to hang out in?

Having done a solo trip this Feb I would definately say upgrade to POR, or CSR... At least there is a lounge to hang around in and at POR the piano man is a blast.. I felt somewhat out of place when surrounded by lots of children and families so if you can afford it upgrade... POR is also a beautiful resort!

Pop has a lounge and pool bar....

I love it!!! :goodvibes

I like the 50's building - but I would say go with the building in the year you were born - then you are surrounded by stuff you might remember.... :thumbsup2

I have done 2 solo trips to Pop - 5 in all.

I haven't stayed at Pop as of yet but have stayed at AS. As a solo vacationer if that is what you can afford then go for it as the room will be clean with Disney transportation and themed property. As this is a value, you will see plenty of children no matter when your there. I find that you do hear a bit more noise as the value resorts fill up pretty quickly and you can find that your surrounded by families (you'll hear those wonderful flushing toilets in the a.m.) and depending on how many families are around you, you may also get a few slammed doors and kids yelling to each other in courtyard areas (this is what I mostly heard). However, if your tired and been in the parks all day, you may crash in your room and not hear a thing.

I would say that if you can afford to upgrade then the moderates would be great and I would also have to pick CSR or POR. Both resorts have their goods/bads but your generally not surrounded by children on all sides (unless your going during the busy season). Have fun.

I was there solo in February. I stayed in the 70s building. It was a really nice resort, but if I could have afforded it I definitely would have upgraded. Lots of familys/kids.

I was solo at Pop for a week earlier this month. I thought it was very noisy, day and night. I could hear conversations from the next room (non-connecting room), kids jumping on the floor above me, kids yelling while playing outside at midnight. The place drove me nuts!

I will say my room was very, very clean, and the CM's were great. But I shan't return.

I did stay at POP alone, unless you count the presence of Cash, the Wonder Dog. I let the staff pick my building just for a surprise...after several days I transferred to POR, boring but pretty, then to AKL...fantastic!, then to the Poly and then a 3-day cruise and back home. I let the CMs transfer my luggage each time so there wasn't too much hassle...I would happily return to the POP. In fact, it was the only resort where I felt comfortable using the pool...even met some fellow lounge lizards around the pool and hung out a while...

the place I saw the most kids was POR....

It was middle of March and it seems everyone but us had 2 to 3 kids - mostly really little ones - below the age of 5...

I don't find the Pop overcrowded with kids. there are a lot of single or couple adults that enjoy Pop most than the moderates...

you will see more single or couple adults here than at any value except all star music (where CRO likes to put the adults).

the toilets are loud - but just close the bathroom door....

I have never heard my neighbors in my room. Now outside I have heard them - but once I got inside I didn't.

besides I LOVE that lake....it is so peacefully - others hate it because the uncompletely pop on the other side.

I stayed at Pop in the 70's area last January and loved it. I've also stayed at ASMu with a friend, but I definitely preferred Pop. I didn't want to pay for the Preferred location but did want to be close to the Food Court and the Buses. My room was nearer to one of the staircases, away from the inner courtyard, was on the top floor and was always blissfully quiet (though I WAS there at a pretty quiet time of year anyway). I thought this was a great location for what I was looking for - low onsite cost! I spent very little time in the room/at the resort, which I find is always something to take into consideration.

I've never traveled solo to a moderate. The only other resorts I've stayed at during solo trips are the Dolphin and Swan - I got *amazing* rates and the location couldn't be beat.

I often travel to the World in May and in general find it the best time to go with (for the most part) smaller crowds, all the events and great weather.

Have fun planning!

My family stayed at POP earlier this month, but now I'm strongly considering going to Star Wars Weekends next year or 2008. I would have no problems going back to POP especially since last trip, I left in the morning and didn't return to the resort until my day was over. I thought POP was great, but considering how much time I spent at the resort, I can't really justify paying more for a place to sleep since that's about all I'll do there.

I've stayed in Pop Century as a solo and it was great. I stayed in the one of the 50's buildings (rm 1308) which was right next to Classic Hall so it was a quick walk to the food court and bus stop.

Another option you might want to consider is to rent points for a DVC studio from a DVCer (via the DISboards). If you plan it right you can stay in a studo for pretty cheaply. I've stayed at a OKW studio as a solo for as little as $80 a night and once stayed in a Boardwalk studio w/ preferred view for $100 a night (and there's no room tax when you rent). The rooms are a bit bigger (and nicer, of course) plus you get a small fridge, microwave and a private balcony. It was nice sitting out on the balcony in the evening in the warm weather, enjoying the view, and sipping a beer!

I have stayed solo 2x at POP so far... on my budget oriented trips... Both times were great! The Food court is fabulous.. the pool selection is great... and you can't beat the price. That being said, if I had to pick any other resort to stay solo... it would be the Swan/Dolphin. There are tons of solo's there.. and the resort is just wonderful.. can't beat the location.. and the rates are great also. So... depending on your budget... take your pick...

Just got back from a solo trip at pop and I would say I was not thrilled with pop at all and I would not stay at pop again. just too manny people around the resort all the time the small pools were always crowded and always a line in the food court. and Bus transportation was only Accepable. I would say the themeing was the best part of the hotel but I could have lived with a visit on my Resort Hopping day.

I stayed solo last October at POFQ and semi-solo (own room, other friends also at resort) at Pop in December. I happen to love the atmosphere, rooms, food court and queues for the buses at Pop so I always look forward to staying there. The price always seem more justifiable for a solo trip. So far I have stayed in the 80's and 50's. 80's was a little hike to the food court, but seemed closer to many of the buses. I thought it felt more restful there and that was the last part of Christmas week. Trying 70's next trip. Hoping it will feel closer to food court and buses and feel restful, too.

I did treat myself to another of my favorites - POFQ - in October. The newly refurbished rooms there are so beautiful. It was a very enjoyable stay, too.

If cost was not a factor, you would find me at WL. I could live there - well at least hang out in the lobby for hours!
