I tried this on the Solo forum but didn't get an answer. Maybe you guys will be more informative.

I'm going on a first time Solo trip in September staying at Pop. People on the other board have said they like to be in well populated and lit areas so they aren't wandering around in the dark, alone, at night. I would have to fathom there's cameras around the resort and would hopefully prevent anything too bad from happening, but in any case I'd like some illusion of safety.

So do you have any suggestions on possible room/building/area requests that would put me around people but not too loud? I'm going to try online check in this time and I'm not entirely sure how requests work on it. I know I'm not guarenteed anything.

Pop Century is our favorite value resort and we've stayed there several times. I'm usually with my 17 yo DD -- most recently last month. It seems like there are always people around, no matter the time. I would occasionally get up really early to go for a run along the lake or to walk over to get morning caffeine and I wasn't the only one out and about. They also do a good job with providing light along walk-ways, etc. I like having a room with a lake view because those, in my experience, are quieter. However, I've only had one case at Pop where it was noisy and that was due to the LOUD family next door. (I called reception about them and was offered the opportunity to move, but was also told they were checking out the next day, so we stayed.)

Anyway, take a look at the property map here: http://i962.photobucket.com/albums/...read/PopCenturyMap2012RoomCategoriesFINAL.jpg
Depending on the view you've booked, you have many options. We've stayed in all of the 1950's buildings and I never felt un-safe walking to any of them. We were absolutely the closest to Classic Hall when we were in Building 1, but I actually preferred staying in Building 3 with the lake view.

Have a fun trip. Also, there is a really informative Pop Century thread at http://disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2914418. The posters over there are extremely helpful and kind.

I am so happy to hear this Sandi! After help from this board I chose the 50's section. First building 2 and then changed to 3. I Love the idea of the lake and quieter side. Like the OP I am also going on my first solo trip and now I feel I definitly made the right choice in sections.

I know you'll have a wonderful time. Enjoy!

I picked the standard room I think. Whichever was cheapest lol, I needed the money for Deluxe Dining! You can obviously see where my priorities are!

Right where they should be! I always get a standard room. I have the same priorities.
