I'm staying at the pop sept 10th to the 20th i booked a standard room with dreams unlimited do you think i should even bother with a room request or should i hope for the best. I'm thinking i'm most likey gonna get stuck in the 80's and 90's buildings please don't get me wrong i'm not looking for a prefered room for a standard price. i just wondering what my chances are of getting a standard room in the other buildings or are the 80's and 90's not as far away as they seem what would you do if it was you? bye the way this is not something that would ruin my trip i'd be happy sleeping in a car as long as i'm at disney:banana:

I don't know what to tell you... I am hoping that when we get there, we can get a preferred room (we are willing to pay the $130 difference for 10 days.) I just can't get preferred on my reservation with my code... we will see. Good luck to you!

Just have your TA request "Close to Classic Hall" if that's what you would like, or 50's or 70's, if that's more what you had in mind. It really can help, and can't hurt to ask! :wizard:

We went last month. I requested 50s (standard room) and we got 60s. The location was great for us - building 4 and facing the lake - nice and quiet :) You could also catch glimpses of the fireworks at night! The 50s, 60s and 70s facing the lake would still be fairly close to the main building and be relatively quiet :)

We have been in the 50's, 70's and 80's, and the 80's building was actually quite nice. Although it is further away from the main pool and dining it was a shorter walk to get to the busses than the other buildings we were at (I must mention that we were at the 80's building that is closest to the buses) and very quiet. Even though the resort seems large, once you get used to it nothing is too far away.

No room is more than 750 feet from the center of Classic Hall; so, as Diz Kids experienced, the 80s and 90s are closer to the buses and Everything Pop than are some of the rooms in the 50s,

We returned yesterday from an 8 night stay at Pop. We were originally assigned to the 70's, but I requested to be moved closer to a pool for the benefit of my 11 year old.

We got a room in the 90's, 2nd floor facing the computer pool. How I wish I had listened to the posters on DIS and requested a room in the 50's or 60's. My SIL was in the 60's, facing the Hippy Dippy, without a preferred rate.

Our room was nice, but we had a connecting room. Our neighbors were EXTREMELY loud every night. Screaming to friends from the "balcony" outside the door, yelling in the room- this was between 12 and 2 a.m. Twice I had to call to complain, and I have NEVER complained to a front desk in my life. I didn't mind the walk to Classic Hall at all, but I think with the pool below us, the building had more of a party atmosphere.

Anyway, if I stay at POP in the future, I would ask for: No connecting room!!!, a quiet location, in a building close to a pool, but maybe not in front of it- facing the lake as posters have suggested. The food court was great, the people wonderful, and...WE GOT A DREAM!! Even with the rude neighbors, I would go back to POP. This was our first stay at a value after Poly, CR, POFQ, CBR and others. I miss DIsney!!

When is the best time to put in a room request - months ahead of time or just a few days before you arrive? Also, what is the best way to make a request - do you phone CRO or the hotel directly?

WE just got back yesterday from POP. Paid for a preferred room and got the Moglie 60's building. It was nice, but seeemd just as far a walk as from the 80's building--not that far. I would have been really mad if I'd paid for a preferred room and ended up facing the Hippy Dippy Pool because it was always packed and LOUD...even late at night.

Opinions vary on that, but it seems most people have good luck submitting their request on their reservations (call CRO and have them added if you already have ressies. Others fax directly to the hotel a few days before the arrive, but this is not officially accepted or encouraged, so it's probably not the best way to go.
No matter how you do it, no request is guarenteed, so here's a little pixie dust for you. :wizard:

We were in the 80's and it was awesome! We were on the second floor right next to the staircase, so we were literally steps from our car. If we wanted to take the bus the bus stop was a short walk through the parking lot. AND we could watch the fireworks at Epcot every night. If we were to go back I would love to stay in the same room, because it was perfect all around for us.

When we stayed at POP in April we had a standard room, but the room we got was fantastic!!! In the 60's building by the Playdoh on the 2nd floor on the corner overlooking the Lake. We couldn't have asked for better. Sometimes being in a standard pays off

We stayed at Pop century the end of may this year and stayed in the 50's building. We asked for that building and to be on the 4th floor and that's actually what we got. Personally I like being on the top floor so you don't have to hear people walking or jumping on top of you. We did get put on the side with the pool which was loud until it closed, but to be honest after the first night we were either so exhausted or up to late that it didn't bother us.

I would say make your requests there is no harm in trying. But just remember there is no controlling who will move in next to you.

Has anyone ever requested a corner room? SO that you get 2 windows? If so.. are they worth requesting?

I was on the third floor, near the corner where the elevators are. It was nice and quiet. If I had neighbors, I didn't know they were there. I didn't mind the walk to Classic Hall nor the walk to the buses. Not sure what the rest of the resort was like as I only wandered around that half of it... from the bridge to the 70s, 80s and 90s area. Never did wander over to the 60s or 50s....

Thanks to the OP and all the responses. We check in to POP friday. We have requested connecting rooms, and have a guarantee from AAA and Disney in writing on it. But have been told by some other CM's that they are not going to guarantee it. We orig. req. 80's building facing the pool, but now we just want to be sure to get the conn. rooms and dont care where we end up.
We have 2 teen boys who are going to be in the other room (own beds). They have now said we have to have more kids than adults to get the conn. rooms........we will wait and see. If we dont get them they will have to deal with the DW!!!!
Give me some pixie dust for connecting rooms.
