POP Room Request - Please help!

We will be arriving at POP on 12/15 late in the evening. I want to go ahead and do online check in before our arrival. But, we have never stayed at Pop, therefore, I don't know what room area to request. There will be three of us including a 9 year old child. We would like to be close to the buses, food court, and pools...if that is even a possibility. But, don't want it to be too loud. Any recommendations would be great! Thanks in advance!

To be close to everything I believe that you must get a "prefered" room = more money. Otherwise look at a map of the resort online and choose what you think would be cool. A Big Wheel, a Rubix Cube, etc. that is what we do.

The 60's building #4 side facing Epcot. I suggest an upper floor. This would locate you away from the Hippy Dippy Pool (noise) but also keep you within a short walk to the food court and bus stops. Also being on an upper floor, facing Epcot gives you the opportunity to watch the Illumination show from outside your resort door.

I hope to be in this same area in April 2011. I've stayed on the 3rd and 4th floor of this building in '08 & '10 and it was great.

Staying preferred will get you close to the buses, food and at least 2 pools.

For quiet preferred....best decades are the 50's and 70's. The 60's are smack dab in the middle of everything. (personally didn't think it was loud but others have...and we had a ground floor).

So I would suggest either 2 of those decades...the 50's have their own quiet pool so maybe that side would be best for you???

I doubt you can put any kind of room location request in when doing online checkin. They usually ask if you want to be near transportation or elevators but that is about it.
You are much better off calling Disney and having any request put on your reservation now.
As already mentioned, in order to be near buses, food court and the main pool, you need to have booked a preferred room. So, you will most likely have booked a standard room. My favorite standard area is 60's, bldg 4, top floor, facing the lake. It's about a 4 min walk to the food court and buses. About 3 mins to the pool area.
50's is also a nice area, as long as you are away from the pool. The rooms facing the pools can be loud. I also enjoyed being way over to the side in the Rubiks Cube area...a bit longer of a walk to the food court, but not too bad, and the computer pool is right there.
I'm one of the few people that doesn't care for a preferred room. We had a ground level preferred room and I hated it. There was a ton of foot traffic going to and from the bus area, as well as the food court area.

Not necessarily. A good portion of the Seventies is preferred, but not particularly close to any pool.

The way the resort wraps around the main building you'll be closer to the front doors than the back but it is a very short walk.

Thanks for the info! We'll be staying at Pop the first week of Jan and was also wondering about room requests!

We've stayed in the 90's and love it too. Its rather far to get to dining especially just to get our morning coffee. However, its very easy to walk across the parking lot to the buses. We had 1st floor pool side and felt it was very quiet and relaxed. That area doesn't seem to get the loud late night swim crowds the other pools get.

If you have room requests you should never do online checkin. I wa stold by a CM that no person ever sees your requests if you do it online.
