For those who have stayed at Pop in a preferred room, was it worth it to you to stay in the preferred room? How many mins did it take to walk to the bus and the food court?

TIA!

We've stayed in both preferred and non-preferred at POP. When carrying my DS after a late park night, and he is sleeping, it's well worth it. Non-preferred rooms are the longest walk to food and busses. The tradeoff is most preferred rooms are farthest from the parking lot. Not enough to be a burden. Preferred is also the closest rooms to the Flower Shower pool in the 60's, our favorite.

Most preferred rooms are 3-5 minutes from food, whereas non-preferred is 5-10 minutes.

Preferred rooms are worth the upgrade, IMO.

We have stayed at both as well and at any value resort, I think the preferred rooms are totally worth it. The cost to get one is of no great expense either.

Last May we stayed in a preferred room at the POP. It was definitely well worth it! It was nice to have everything in close proximity to our rooms and as another poster mentioned, well worth it at the end of the night!
Good Luck and happy planning!

I have stayed both as well. I didn't find standard bad at all, but I prefer preffered so we can stay poolside at the Hippy Dippy Pool. Not all preferred are poolside, and not all are "closer" to the bus and or classic hall.

But we love 1st floor poolside and make that request now. Alot of people prefer to be lakeside, whcih is not preferred.

Can you tell me the noise level in a ground floor poolside? I originally had preferred booked, and that exact request, as my daughter really wants to be "right by the pool" (even though I've told her it's not guaranteed.) I got to thinking that if the pool is open until midnight and I want to sleep, it could be loud. Can you tell me your thoughts on actual noise if you're poolside? (either late night or early morning)

It might depend on when you go too, but for us, we never had much problem with noise. Only 1 night this year did it get a little loud, and my DD noticed the sound and asked what it was. But nothing much and it was just the one night. Of course some people are more sensitve to noise as well. But I loved it and we never had a problem sleeping. the down side is if you like to sleep in (which I don't, but DH did) is that at 8:30 every morning they wash the sidewalks and ppoldeck. The mover to different sections each day and in our 6 night stay we had the washer next to our door twice.

Not worth it to me. I've stayed at POP 5 times now, one time in a preferred room, the rest of the time in standard rooms. I really didn't care for the preferred room. Yes, it was closer to the food court and the bus stop...but that made for much more foot traffic going by my ground level room! I much prefer being on the backside of the resort, facing the lake, and having an addtl minute or two walk to the food court. I've been in the most remote area of POP and it wasn't more than a 5 min walk to the food court/bus stop. In fact, it was probably less.

I too have stayed in both preferred and standard. I booked preferred again this year. We all agreed it is worth the $$. It's not too much more and so worth it after a long day at the park. (not to mention much easier to run and get coffee in the a.m.):coffee:

I agree. We have stayed 50's lakeview 4th floor both times we have stayed at Pop. I wouldn't trade it for anything. It's so peaceful and quiet. The walk doesn't bother me a bit! I love the ambiance of the resort! The walk is enjoyable.

I've stayed in both preferred and non-preferred. Our last trip to Pop we ended up with a good AAA rate for a preferred room and ended up in Building 4 in the 60's section. I didn't think it would be a big deal, but it really was worth it. Just being that much closer to Classic Hall really did make a difference.

I stayed preferred last March and it was one of the noisiest rooms I've ever had! Nope not woth it in my opinion.:goodvibes

I've also found that the preferred rooms at Values tend to be louder than the non-preferred.

I think if you have small children or elderly (or a person with a condition that hinders their walking ability), go with a preferred. After a long day at the parks it is worth it.

If you are a bunch of adults or children at an age where they are capable of walking, go with non-preferred. It is not a huge resort. The walk is really just 10 minutes tops from the furthest point.

My hubby thinks it's worth it But I don't ...
I like the 50's area way better then preferred, infact I didn't book preferred this trip because i want the 50's area . I know they have 50's in preferred but i like the area in 50's near the bowling pin pool...:thumbsup2

My favorite bldg at POP. My favorite room??? 4441. So terrific..faced the lake, very quiet, towards the end of the floor, away from the elevators. And a fairly quick walk to the food court and buses.

There are preferred rooms in bldg 1 and 3 of 50's..possibly some in bldg 2, but I forget at the moment. And a lot of those preferred rooms face the bowling pin pool...seems Disney thinks that they are soooo much closer to the food court/bus stop areas than other rooms in 50's. Perhaps about a min or so, but not a lot.

We prefer non-preferred because we like it back facing the lake instead in the 70's or 50's.

Yea.. Like i said I know they have preferred in the 50's but i'm not paying the extra money to be in the 50's facing the bowling pin pool when i can get the same area just a few rooms down for non-preferred price .. Know what i mean .. :thumbsup2

Ahhh, I do now. I seem to have misunderstood what you were saying. Sorry.

If you are looking for the quietest room-do not book preferred. My preferred room had noise from the pool and people always walking by your room. I liked my non-preferred room much better. The walk is longer, but really, what is another 4 minutes of walking when you are at Disney.:rotfl:

We paid for preferred a couple of years back and were stuck in the 60's building on the back side of the building, about as far away as possible from the elevator, pool, food court & buses and still be considered preferred. The room was run down, noisy location and we couldn't be moved because the resort was to the max during FD. It was the most miserable & unmagical stay we'd ever had & we've crossed POP off our list of places to stay due to this & many other issues that occurred during that visit. JMHO.....:rolleyes1
