We're staying at POP in September and after everything we read on these boards decided not to go preferred. The locations of the 50's and 70's sections are very similar in distance to the preferred 60's section. That is really all you are paying the extra money for is the location. So unless you really need to be as close as possible, or you have some loving feeling for the 60's decor ;) I would recommend not paying the extra- especially if you are worried about pool noise.

SRUAlmn, we were there july 16-24 and requested and stayed in the 50's. IMHO, paying $10 more per night for the 60"s was just not worth it. The 50's & 70's are excellent locations and both are close to Classic Hall. If you must stay at the 60's, request a 3rd or 4th floor room which should be quieter than ground level.;)

Have a wonderful stay at POP!;) We thoroughly enjoyed it with our two children (DD12 & DS9) It was our first stay at a value resort and it was worth it.::yes::

Just got back from POP on 3rd August.

We had a great room in the 70's building, room 6415

View over the lake, round the corner from the stairs, very close to the Goofy squirt zone and a stones throw from Everything Pop.

Some of the 60's rooms were further away from the pool than we were!!

I personally wouldn't pay the extra $10, we just got really lucky!! :sunny:

Just so you know, you booked a Preferred Building, not a preferred view. So, you will not neccessarily get a pool view room. If you have a lake view, or any other view besides the pool, noise should not be an issue. Also, higher up floors tend to be quieter.

We stayed in the 60's building back in December when PC first opened. We had a room on the opposite side of the pool-facing rooms. Never heard a thing. Our view was basically of the 50's buildings. We were closest to the stairs at the end of the hall closest to the lobby. We loved it. Only downfall was there is no parking near the 60's building.

Actually we have loved all of our stays at PC. We have also stayed 50's A and 70's B. I think 70's B is as close to the busses as you can get.

We stayed at Pop Century last month and really enjoyed our stay! We did do the 60s because my DH & oldest DD really like the 60s!! Our room was closer to the kiddy pool, 3rd floor - it was very quiet; we didn't even hear our neighbors!!!

We were really quite impressed with Pop Century! In fact, we'll be back at Pop in December - couldn't pass up that rate!!!

Enjoy your stay!!!!

We stayed there in May in a prefered building, we thought it was perfect, right next to the pool, we had the music and tables out front, believe it or not the doors are pretty thick and keep the sound from the pool and people.

I wouldnt go for the extra 10.00 bucks @ night. the 60's is no closer to the main bldg & buses than the 50's & 70's, but just more of a direct route....straight ahead. I really dont know why they charge a extra 10.00 @ night.

As far as the noise, when people are outside your room & talking ..yes you can hear them. However late @ night I didnt hear anything outside...iIwas too tired. But yes You can hear other rooms, flushing & taking showers. It is muffled. But no worse than living in a apartment.

That's good to hear because we will be staying at POP in September and we live in an apt. Other posters on another POP thread had said how bad the noise was and I said that I lived in an apt and that we are used to being able to hear that kind of noise and they all said it's much worse than apt living. Thanks for the reassurance :)

The noise will not be a problem, in fact the other rooms will hear you (muffled). My 10 yr old nephew kept playing the tv too loud, i wonder if the rooms next to us complained.

Besides at night you will be DOG tired...Nothing will keep up awake.

Enjoy, you are going to love the POP!

We stayed at Pop in July, 60's building, 2nd floor facing the lake. We loved the view and the closeness to the main building. It was not loud at all.
